I'm Sorry St.George, yeh ok call me a whinger because the tigers had no players picked but

Brent Kite over John Skandalis??? This is another example of a top team having a player picked over a bottom team's player who is alot better. You guys having Laurie Daley makes it alot easier for u guys to NSW representation as has happened here. Skandalis made 165 metres in the Penrith v Tigers Ch.9 game while Clinton, the NSW likely starter, only made 92. Skandalis has been consistant for years now and especially the season is showing he is one of the most dominant props in the game.

And all that to get pipped by Brent Kite- *edited - read the forum rules* because thats the only way i think he would get in the 30

now if u guys say Kite had a good city/country game- so did Skando in 2002- best forward in the game-scored a try- and he didnt get picked
for NSW

now for hornby over hodgson- this is the most idiotic decision and just basically goes against all sanity.Hodgson was NSW's best player 2002 and now he doesnt even make the 30.........for Hornby to the reserve??? it really is quite funny.......

i dont know how u guys can live with urselves knowing that ur players of such poor standard get in when its clear we have two blokes who are much better

i know im sorry it sounds like im whinging.... but its true.. and it goes back to the notion that everyone is realising- once u sign on to St.George u r basically guaranteed a represeative call up despite ur form

it can all be summed up by the selection of your injured prop jason ryles-

he plays one game in 12 months and gets picked for NSW--?

Skando,
You make some valid points, but the one about signing with the Dragons gets you a rep jersey is ridiculous.
Kite is a very good player, and so is Skandalis. Im a big fan of skando, and tigers fans should be dissapointed. But it's Phil Gould mate not the Dragons fault. If you look at the Roosters squad Skando, it would show you the type of player they are after. Tall Rangy, Athletic, Fast and Strong players. Kite fits all those descriptions. He can also play for 80 minutes.
Blame Gould, who also wants to use half our squad as he knows we will be the Roosters biggest threats this season. So the more in SOO the more chance we have of losing during Origin.

On Ben Hornby.
The Dragons player of the year last season, and heading that way this season. He is our Number 1 Back. All class. We would not swap him for No Fullback in the comp .
Hodgson, was not picked for 1 reason mate. his body. It can not handl;e it in THEIR opinion.
+ Ben gives them more options. Fullback/ Winger/Centre/5/8/Halfback/Lock/Hooker.

I think Kite has more reason to be in the side than Ryles or Fitzgibbon. These guys have barely played all year,Ryles has had about half a game in ten months and he walks straight into the side.He even says himslef that he doesnt think he is ready yet...while poor old Skandy......averages 70 mins,28 tackes and 20 hit ups....

Good work Lozza.

I wish no Saints players were picked in Origin, but more specifically meaningless games like City / Country, it's just another palce for the guys to get injured...

Cheers,

skandofan, apart from the rant, I do agree with you that Skandalis should be in the side. But only because I'm bracing for another flood of injuries. You're welcomed to have all that.

LOL, well obviously the dragons fans really have no say in who makes the Blues squad, so us carrying the burden of guilt for unfair selections really doesn't make much sense. They're not technically reps either, being named in the 30 man squad isn't the same as actually playing for NSW. It's more than likely neither of them will make it. The reason they have been picked over tigers players is obviously because their play in a side that has been in extremely good form in the last month has been superb. It's unfair, but that's what happens, if you're playing solid football on a good team you're going to get noticed more than a better player from a worse performing side, just look at Broncos players in recent years like Brad Meyers and Mick Devere that have played for Australia while vastly more talented individuals are overlooked.

Dragons players seemed to get favoured in rep teams so I can understand your frustration, skandofan.

Jason Stevens is more adept & stamping on people faces & giving wedgies but he keeps getting selected for Rep sides...

btw, I'm sure the competition's top try scorer for 1999, 2000, and 2001 would agree that you only have to wear a St George jersey to be guaranteed an Origin spot.

lmao. Yes sullyfan. Agreeing with nonsense statements like that doesnt do you any favours.

I'm sure you agree with me deep down. ;-) Ryles, Timmins, Barrett, Bailey, Kite, Hornby, Thompson etc....all from a team which has barely won 50% of their games since 2000.

Stevo has been good this year but his form has been down for the last couple of seasons.

Bailey is out for the season. I doubt if Thompson, Kite and Hornby will get a run. Ryles, Timmins and Barrett are proven Origin players and the selectors look at that, amongst other things.

Ryles' comeback reminds me of Brad Clyde who returned from a long stint on the sidelines, made a half break, and was selected for Australia. The selectors dont always get it right but they (presumably) know what they want in rep players.

C'mon mate, you're not a Scum fan!!

Most people can see your point of view with Rep selections. It's an in-exact science, to say the least.

Kite and Hornby are off contract aren't they? Guss... Hmmm :?

They were already in contract negotiation with Doust before being selected to the 30 man NSW Squad (not the actual Origin team)...

I don't think Pig-Head's promised them their own pokie machine at Bondi Junction just yet...

Cheers,
Ben S.

Build a bridge and get over it, rep are a waste of money for clubs and time for injured players as a result of reps.

Skandalis is going to be a lot more dominant than Clinton because he doesnt have the players around him to share the workload.

Watch Kite play and you will see how much he does in a team built on good fowards.
