Kiwi Goal Kicker

There are a few options - Luke, Marshall (inconssitent), Smith (under rated), Goodwin (not good enough to get in),Lancey (kicking not 100%)...

It'd would be nice to have a Ridge or Halligan kicker back in the side again turning 4 pointers into 6's.

With the close scorelines in recent 4 Nations games, GK will become very important.

What do you think?

The team would have to be either:

1. Perrett, 2. Nightingale, 3. Matai, 4. SKD/Sau/Inu/Ropati, 5. Vatuvei, 6. Marshall, 7. Foran, 8. Asotasi, 9. Luke, 10. Rapira, 11. Blair, 12. Mannering, 13. Smith, BENCH: 14. Hohaia/Fien, 15. Harrison, 16. Hargreaves, 17. Nuuausala (18th man: Sika Manu)

or

1. Hohaia, 2. Perrett, 3. Matai, 4. SKD/Sau/Inu/Ropati, 5. Vatuvei, 6. Marshall, 7. Foran, 8. Asotasi, 9. Luke, 10. Rapira, 11. Blair, 12. Mannering, 13. Smith, BENCH: 14. Heremaia/Fien, 15. Harrison, 16. Hargreaves, 17. Nuuausala (18th man: Sika Manu)

...either way, Luke should be the kicker, with Marshall as backup. One centre spot is up for grabs, if Inu made the spot he would be there, but he has been in rubbish form. However, Sau hasn't been much better, and SKD is still painfully inconsistent. Maybe put Ropati there?

You can't carry a 60% goalkicker in a Test side. Issac Luke needs to be the first choice goalkicker, and needs to play the full 80.

Don't forget Matai can kick also, the options are there it's just which one is best.
Goodwin might not be that far off the side and has the best kicking stats this year of the leading kiwi's.

Inu is not good enough atm. He played like piss no more than a few weeks ago against the warriors. To be honest if were after form wingers Kevin Locke is next in line after Vatuvei. Goodwin and Nightingale both before Inu atm. Luke will kick fulltime. Centres are an issue, i havent seen any knights games lately, is Sau playing well enough?

Sau is playing rubbish at the moment.

Kenny-Dowall - 17 games, 8 tries, 11 linebreaks, 0 try assists, 102 tackle breaks, average 12 runs for 122 metres

Matai - 14 games, 9 tries, 8 linebreaks, 6 try assists, 46 tackle breaks, average 12 runs for 91 metres

Sau - 14 games, 6 tries, 6 linebreaks, 4 try assists, 44 tackle breaks, average 12 runs for 103 metres

Ropati - 16 games, 6 tries, 7 linebreaks, 3 try assists, 52 tackle breaks, average 15 runs for 126 metres

Those are the best options NZ have at the moment out of the specialist centres.

Until they get some more centre options.

Any chance they'd consider moving Harrison to the centres?

Marshall had an off kicking game on Monday night, but is capable if needed. If Goodwin can make the squad, he'd be first choice IMO - He got 21/21 at one stage this year.

If I were coach, that's exactly what I'd instruct my players to do. That way, he could get himself sent off or give away the penalty that leads to the crucial try again. He's a liability and has only ever been an asset to the other team at this level.

The Stanley boys are worth a mention also. Chase has already played for the Kiwi's and will be developing nicely at the Storm, while Kyle has looked awesome in limited game time for the Dragons.

Kyle would have to apply for special dispensation from the RLIF, he played stand off for Samoa last year
