Don't bank on SBW playing people. Highly unlikely. If he was intending to do so, he would have said so. He ain't. Why would he not come out and say, yes, I'm playing and available, unless he intends not to?

So every rugby league player now has to publicly declare they are playing? Sonny isn't some special species. He has to make himself unavailable for the World Cup if he doesn't want to play, just like Marshall recently did.

i like how this has turning into a spat about f**king origin..

f**k OFF YOU BORING merkinS!!

Pull your head in, there's no spat about Origin, I was merely pointing out that he wouldn't be eligible for NSW if he came here after he turned 13.

On the contrary my mantra has always been against blow-ins playing Origin and have always maintained that we should be putting the International game before Origin. Talk about an impulsive tactless response.

It appears Marshall didn't declare HIMSELF unavailable. His new employers (the NZRU) declared him unavailable.

I've heard about 3-4 different stories, he wasn't picked, he was unavailable, he declared himself unavailable. It was ridiculous. But I did hear an "official statement" from Auckland RU that he would not be allowed to play.

The NZRU appear to have become very agreesive against RL in New Zealand after big gains over the last few years. Obviously they have decided not to take it easy on us in any arena, school, local comp or national team.

Re: SBW, I also heard directly in an interview from Stephen Kearney, from his own mouth, that he did not know if SBW was going to play or if he was available. They were in touch with him and so on. That would pi$$ me off.

Now, he hasn't had to say to JWH, Isaac Luke, SJ, TL, Simon and co, are you available? If I were the Kiwis coach, and when I asked are you available, if the answer wasn't yes, then and there, I forget them.

What I don't understand, is why a kid who grew up playing rugby league in nz dreaming of being a kiwi and is obviously passionate about playing sport for his country doesn't seem overly interested in playing. Why wouldn't you want that chance to play for nz in the World Cup? Is our sport that unattractive?

Pretty obvious it is when he takes a 1.5 mill per year paycut to go play for the All Blacks and he wasn't even a starter at the WC. Unions International game is the thing that will bring him back to Union next season as well.

Whare is definitely ahead of Simona at the moment, a few years older too I think

Inu is hit and miss and I think he is better then Goodwin

As said he can genuinely play fullback, wing or center. He wouldn't make a full strength 17 and probably (deservedly) will miss the squad, but they could certainly do worse then picking him with an eye to the future...

For all you know city could pick him new year and he decides to switch back to nsw

Where has he said that he isn't interested? He hasn't said anything at all. He rarely talks to the press as it is.

He's eligible for NZ and they have every right to pick him in the train-on squad when the Roosters are knocked out/win the premiership. The onus is on him to say he's unavailable.

The Roosters are currently in the finals it's not like he should be coming out every week saying how much he is looking forward to the World Cup, no other finals players are doing that.

Didn't taumololo and winterstein play for tonga and Samoa this year?

Players are added to train-on squads without their consent or with regards to their eligibility. It's likely some players will be in two or three train-on squads.

Just one of the many things that really needs reforming. Kiwi squad's looking well though!
