Look Newcastle have got good attacking players other than Johns. Buderus, Kurt Gildey and Kennedy. Without those three players tonight, Parramatta wouldve easily won. Plus Steve Witt's a good player and a dangerous runner of the football, no question.

The problem is, like tonight, the might concede more points than they score points.

i dont think that will be a problem they were all nakered we had forwards in the centres to cover injuries and only had 14 men the last 15-20 mins

The Knights title hopes are gone.

They would just manage to keep up with the big three with Johns (Panthers, Roosters, Warriors) but without him....they cant win the comp.

It will be interesting to see how they go.

I have said that past Knights teams wouldnt have made the playoffs without Johns. I think the 2004 Knights are a better side then in previous years....but it will be interesting to see how they go.

Injuries are a part of the game. I dont think any team can really blame there misfortunes on injuries anymore in todays game. Thats why nrl teams have 25 or more players in there 1st grade squads, depth is what separates the contenders from pretenders. Personally i cant see newcastle being a serious threat in the premiership hunt if joey is gone for the year. They may make the playoffs but, statistics dont lie, newcastle has a poor record without joey on the field.

Its pretty funny how pathetic one team becomes when just one player is injured.

(im aware of the other Knights injuries, but if they had everyone playing but Johns, they'd still lose to Souths :D )

no the Knights can't win the comp if Johns is gone for the season - they now become nuisance value in 2004

but I have to laugh at the Canberra dweebs above who come out of the woodwork to have a go at the Knights - at no point could the Raiders win the comp this year

if the raiders aren't the most boring team of the last 20 years - my memory is shot

Oink !

The Knights without Johns are like the Roosters without Fittler.

But good luck if you need to rely on Steve Witt.

Hell will freeze over before the Knights win the comp without Johns.

...Says the person who supports a team who should have Brad Fittler as their logo! This is good though, it takes all the pressure off Newcastle in the weekly grind of premiership football, other teams will take us lightly because Bucketarse is gone, and then we'll show them our young guns 8)

I agree that the knights can't win the premiership without johns, however I will say that I think this season their probably better placed to cope with johns abscence than in the past.

The knights are still a show for the top 4, but I think they may struggle to win the premiership without Johns.

Im as big a Knights fan as they come.

But im also a realist.

Up untill last night I thought we were looking good for premiership #3.

I think we will still make the finals, prob 6-8, but its very doubtful we have it in us to win it.

But it is nice to dream.

Lets hope the greatest ever player doesn't call it quits because of this.

Now is the time and opportunity to prove to all and sundry that the Knights are no-longer a one man team.

While it's disheartening that Joey has suffered such an injury it might now make the Knights management start thinking of the future (without Johns) rather than paying lip-service or putting a temporary bandaid on the team until he returns.

In the long run, this could prove to be a turning point for the Knights teams of the future. We may not win games this year that you'd expect but we'll come out of it better off next year.

Don't say you haven't been warned!
