oh and i have no problem if they find another club like wests to help them out, or they have some benifactor of sorts come in and take over, but if the nrl saves them it is a kick in the teeth

The Bears were one of ten teams in Sydney, the Knights are the only team in Newcastle.

I'd honestly be happy for anyone including West's to completely take over the club. Singo is just an arrogant prick who would f**k us even worse IMO.

Singleton hasn't said anything above that isn't 100% spot on.

"There's no networking, no communication - it's like doing business in the 1960s. It's pure management incompetence,"

Sums it up perfectly. My limited personal dealings with the club mirror those sentiments.

And this, from an INDEPENDENT auditor:-

"Uncertainty exists as to whether the company (Newcastle Knights) will be able to continue as a going concern...If the company is unable to continue as a going concern it may be required to realise assets and extinguish liabilities"

( Hopefully a few of the liabilities include the incompetent board and management team )

All the above article reflects is what a few of us have been saying for ages about the Knights problems.

Knock him all you like, but Singleton is a genius businessman, who is calling out the Knights for what they are - totally incompetent, and worse still, seemingly without care that they are completely crap at running a business.

The Knights are a one city team that has so much going for it - there's no competition for the team within miles!

Its disgraceful that they are in the position they are in right now. Blame the weather or whatever all you like, but every team has to deal with it too, and they don't have the benefit of having a one city team.

I've mentioned this in the Knights forum, but the greatest example of their incompetence, is during the 20th Anniversary of the club last year, the Knights had no specific merchandise available to honour the occasion. For a team that earned hundreds of thousands of dollars from T Shirt sales after premiership wins, some bright spark at the club forgot to put out 20th Anniversary merchandise in 2007

Is there anyway a Newcastle/Central Coast alignment could work? Half the games at old Marathon, half at Bluetongue?

It doesn't need anything like that. That would be ridiculous.

Its a one city team already! It has no competition, they have one of the largest support bases in the NRL.

All it needs is better board leadership and competent management.

The team can be successful with simple savvy smarter business techniques than they currently use.

The Knights cannot maximise their profit potential for whatever reason - it can only be mismanagement or poor management.

If they had some 20th Anniversary T Shirts for example, that 1.3 loss would have been significantly less - and thats just one thing.

:? Didn't their jerseys and most other merch released (training shirts etc) have the 20yr logo on it? I realise they didn't have an actual shirt with "20 Glorious Years" or some such crap on it but they had the logo and did stuff for it...

Might have something to do with capacity? I can tell you now Newcastle Knights fans (and league fans in general) would fill Bluetongue 6 times a year, maybe even twice over.

Tim - unlike some clubs, we have a strong affiliation with our region. I wouldn't object to moving one or two games at most to Gosford if they were a huge money spinner, but 6? no way.

actually attempted to move that year with all the encouragement in the world from the NRL and you know helping out the game n sh*t.
things went wrong and we didnt get a helping hand, we got the arse. The precedent has been set for clubs who no longer have the financial ability to keep going and if this happens to newcaslte (or easts south bulldogs dragons brisbane NZ etc) then too f**king bad

so you were shafted

so we should all be shafted

nice one

FTR this isnt a discussion I want to be having, and further I hope to hell that it never comes to a bailout situation. We will probably need a white knight.

Yeah that's a pretty sh*thouse situation... you can't have a team so others should suffer? You should be supporting the propping up of teams so others DON'T have to suffer the fate of your club... you know how much it hurts and 10 years on would like nothing more than to see the game thrive... right?

Lets look at Singo's involvement with Football Clubs in the past.

Newtown - gone

Wests - gone

Norths - gone

Newcastle - ???

He is the kiss of death
