Yep fair comments re: this years and next years cap...I went off a bit like a bull at a gate hehehehe

I thought its still undecided on whether Mata’utia is a fullback or a centre or whatever yet?

some big names in both of those teams. at least he's played in good company before... and by the looks of things will know a couple of our boys already.

Fair dinkum.

If there is any confusion or doubt over the standard of this footballer I suggest you try and:-

1 - Grab a copy of Tigers games he has played in at first grade level.

2 - Check out some recent comments from Tigers supporters ( sometime more recent than the optimistic 2005 efforts posted on here earlier ).

Expecting him to reach anything near the heights spoken of in regard to his 2004-05-06 junior football selection anytime soon in first grade, is akin to hoping Santa Claus is indeed real.

There's a thread dedicated in the West Tigers forum thanking us for taking him off their hands for gods sakes.

He is sh*t.

And that's putting it mildly.

Top 5 worst NRL players who have played at least 1 game in the last 3 years for sure.

The 100k thing... Surely he would be on incentives, match payments. No way we would throw 100k just like that.

Pete would make a good fullback but an exceptional centre IMO

Just on McDonnell I don't nthink he's that great but he's not as bad a signing as people make out. He's versatile, can play anywhere in the backline, he's quick, and he's only 21.
In anycase I would agree that he's a better fullback than Pete at this stage, however he will never get chosen ahead of our regular backline members.

We've had Tigers fans saying on this very thread, that his speed is inaccurate.

It was pointed out Ciraldo ran him down last year when in open space.

He just looks like he is going quick because of his running style.

Unfortunately , he isn't.

I saw him easily run down Timana a few years back so he must havge some speed. I'd dare say he wouldn't be far off Aku over 100m

I am at a loss here! I vaguely know the kid's name and if I am correct, he has a bit of toe. Other than that why did we not sign Mick Crocker for 100 K for the season. I am seriously worried we are not going to even try to sign anyone next season beyond the current roster.

If he hasn't played that much first grade footy, how is he meant to mature and develop as a footballer? Because I'm getting the impression that he's hardly seen any footy? I remember when Lockyer first made his debut he had shocking hands. Now people are suggesting that he should be immortalised.

About the salary cap thing for next year i might be wrong but isn't it possible to do this.

Lets say in 2009 Uate is on 80k and we have 100k left to spend for this year. Couldn't we use that 100k we have left to give to Uate this year so hes 2009 contract would change from 80k to 180k plus 3 more years after this on 180k.

So instead of paying Uate the 100k over the next three years we pay it to him this year instead which would give us more room under the cap next year. Did i explain that right? is it possible to do that or am i just making things up again.

Milton is signed with 2 clubs already (I believe the Lismore club are still owed some money he took off them for signing before he took off down the coast) - and that's not including the one that he drinks at. I don't think he is in the state to play grade footy.

When it comes to speed in rugby league, depending on the player it can be affected by whether he has the ball or doing the chasing. Some players can't hit top speed when they are running with the ball. These same players can often run down speedsters.
