Brown's involvement today made Joel Moon's effort on Friday night look Herculian. If you are going to play Kidley in the halves then you need to partner him with someone who has an ounce of playmaking ability in them. He didn't kick, he didn't run with the ball, he didn't rack up the tackles...

Hat off to Buderus. His kicking game is really starting to come along nicely. Some of his kicks today actually found space and he is becoming a viable kicking option. Good to see the old dog learn some new tricks!

Everyone was getting at Tighe to be dropped after 4 ordinary games in their opinion.

What about Brown? He hasnt done much in each game he's played this year..

I still cant see why people say he will be a good talent, hasnt showed much imo.

Brown doesn't do anything. Worst player ever.

Kurt gidley has the worst kicking game in the NRL

I don't understand all the hype over kade snowden, he isn't that good.. Good defender but thats all he has going for him.

Reynoldson played well as did bedsey.. They were the only 2 players that stood out imo.

The guys, I thught played pretty well. Clarke made sure the Dgs got plenty of ball in our half. Blowing penalties on the 4th and 5th tackles of our defensive sets and sinbinning Snowden in the biggest overeaction since Mcdougalls act after the Bird slap last Monday.

I thought Mcmanus was excellent in defense as he has been pretty much all season. Even though the score against us was pretty hefty, I think our lateral defense is far better than what it was in the Broncs games and the one's precedding that.

Am going out to have a few dollars on the Knights to make the top 8 and a speculator on us winnning the comp as I think the odds should be pretty juicy.

Heads up boys, good effort considering the missing talent in 7 today.

Seriously, we don't need a 5/8, Mullen plays best in that position, we need a halfback. Why didn't Smith promote one of the lower grade halves to play. FFS! It's better than having Kidley in the play maker role, which he is not suited to or Brown, who's deadset useless as a 5/8th. Hell, what's with all these forwards being thrust into the playmaker role????? This makeshift stuff isn't working!

On the Bulldogs ground and crowd. What a disgraceful bunch of supporters! Not behaviour wise, the crowd was so bereft of any atmosphere, bought back memories of the Souths game last year, and if they can't get more than 13,000 to a sunday game, at the premier sydney ground for football, they should turn it up now! Not once did i feel comfortable sitting there.

And really, what's with all this "resting players" sh!t? I'd be insulted if my coach came up and said I was sitting on the sidelines for a rest game. How can a player play himself into form when he's not playing constantly? Injuries, ok. But for the sake of a rest? Turn it up!

And I still see no improvement in Tighe. Fair dinkem, he has to go. Yes he looked "better" than alot out there today, but considering how woeful we played in periods, that's not saying a great deal. Too much going himself and those two kicks he did were not what was needed at the time. Time to give someone else a run or give him a "rest"!

If we'd had a real half and a little more commitment from some of the forwards, we would have been a real chance today. But alas, we seem resigned to mediocre and "rebuilding".

Clarks sinbinning continues his woeful preference of home or high profile teams. Woeful decision absolutely woeful. couldnt believe it.
As an eels fan and watching it with 2 rooster fans and a Dogs fan we were ALL absolutely gob smacked....
My dogs mate , who is pretty well connected with his club said that it was well known that Clark is the easiest ref to bully into a decision and is well known as having favourites.

There must be a better ref out there. Personally whenever he is down to ref the eels I just write that game off.

Clark has been jamming Newcastle since the 98 qualifying final.

He kills us just about every time we have him

A good effort but we were fortunate that we didn't meet the Buuldogs at the top of their game, it really could have been ugly.
They may not have been at the top of their game today, but according to my mate who is an avid fan (Dogs season ticket holder) reckons that today's game was the best they'd played all year.

So we've drawn the best out of Brisbane and the Bulldogs

hmm... personally, who cares about the end score. The team played like sh*t out there at times. Seriously couldnt hack how we would throw everything we had and the bulldogs just stopped us in our tracks. Like we need a half back, dont know who said it before but Mullen is a top notch 6 and needs to play further out from the ruck. Brown is garbage these days. I thought he could offer us something but kick him off the team man, fed up with him. Does nothing to help the team I must say. NOTHING.

Bedsy played well as usual, I love that guy.

During the first half there were periods we would make great metreage every time we got the ball but really couldnt do anything apart from make metres because our halves dont have any creativity. I know Kidley threw the ball of the game but yeah, one pass. Kidley should have a ban on kicking the ball, there is no way he should be our first choice kicker. Loving Bedsy's kicking game however.

Tighe and McManus are starting to work up a combination now (as I said they would before) and soon they will be a force to be reckoned with. HOWEVER, Polglase and Doogs reminds me of the 05 Carmont/Quinn combination. Just woeful. Something needs to be done there.

I was pretty angry after the game I must admit. Feeling alot better now had time to cool off. Snowden I thought played pretty well. I feel Josh Perry is running with alot more vigour every run now, just he isnt getting the ball in his hands enough, he needs to go find work while on the field.

Conclusion, the score was decent, not blown away. However if we continue to play like this we are in for some beating throughout the year and we will see 05 all over again.

I ended up not too unhappy with the result with the boys putting on some points late in the second half - Our for and against took another leap in the WRONG direction but it could have and probably should have been worse.
.
Four things I want to bring up are -
.
1 : What's wrong with our goal line defence ??? I can remember 4 teams this year (out of 8) that we have played, that have scored from just a one out dummy half pass and barge over the try line when attacking from about 3 metres out. Surely something is wrong there. It should be easiest place to defend from.
.
2 : Offloads - I've taken particular notice the last two games that even when we have three/four players wrestling a player whilst he's still on his feet that he still manages to get second phase play going. That shouldn't be happening.
.
3 : Not watching the clock in yesterdays game. We get a penalty with about thirty seconds to go on the clock - kick for touch and then have two forawrd hit ups that runs the clock out. Vision boys. I know another player we used to have that would have looked at the clock and SURELY put the ball in the air atleast to have given us a 50/50 chance of scoring - not just a lame trudging forward run straight up the middle.
.
4 : I've mentioned this in another post but Cory PATERSOn. Has ever played out wide in the three quarters??? That break late in the game when he run onto the ball at good angle and leg drove to break the tackle and make the break. Great stuff to watch. Could he play out wide in TIGHE'S position??? With his big long arms he would surely get some great offloads away to support players if he was running out wide. Oh and by the way how long have we secured him for ????

Simple mistakes escalated into stupid penalties. We were lucky to get away with a 14-point difference (30-16).
