Thanks Jobber!

Rankin's debut was no better than Dureau's last year against Manly...both played in heavily beaten teams as well which makes it a little easier to compare (but at the same time hard to see their wares). Both had some good touches and showed some promise.

Just watched the game again and boy the reffing was horrid...especially that turd in the video ref's box! We should've scored 40+ points with a little more polish and the correct decision on Houston's try.

If we miss the 8 by a small margin and don't meet Burro's magic target for this years crowd average we should send a please explain letter to the NRL/Robert Finch and an invoice for our loss :p

I was speaking for about 2o minutes with one of the knights official at the Titans who I know for quite well b=ut haven't seen in years and some of the interesting comments were:

1.That Smithy is a fantastic coach who gets on well with his players and has brought much needed professionalism to the club.
2. That eventually they hope to move their training base next to Energy.
3. That there is no decsion on reggies for next year.
4. The cleanout last year was definitely needed as the players were in their comfort zone and wouldn't get out of it.

Nothing we didn't already know but it is interesting to get an insight from very close in the coaching hierachy.

Now there was a 16 year old kid (and 5+ years younger than Scott) who played approx 20 minutes of football and during that time chip kicked and almost regathered, went within a bees dick of scoring a try and put through a grubber which resulted in a try.

The Scott reasoning that he has only been in the team for half a season doesn't wash where Rankin demonstrated his raft array of skills in 20 minutes.

The faxt of the matter is that Scott is a long way from most first grade jhalves in ability and I don't see that much improvment in him.

I think what people are trying to say is that we don't need Dureau to be as good as Pearce or Wallace or Thurston. Most teams don't have four superstars in 1, 6, 7 and 9. Usually one of those players will be a bit below the others. Ballin is 9 for the Sea Eagles, Justin Smith is 6 for the Cowboys, Ennis is 9 for the Broncs and Brown is the 9 for the Roosters. We don't need a superstar if we have Mullen, Gidley and Buderus (even with De Gois next year!)

If only we could get a Stadium like that build here.

Boys did good on Monday Night. Needed another big thumping win. Managed to get a good win despite the penelty count.

Nailed it Otto.

Dureau complements every other player in our team.
He doesn't hog the ball with pointless runs like someone we were trying at 5/8 earlier this year and his service to the forwards and the backs through his passing game is great. And again I can mention his long kicking game which like someone else pointed out turns a bad set into a good one.

As a team though whether it be Mullen, Dureau or Gidley we need to improve our 5th tackle options when we are right on the try line. We need to get rid of the little chip kicks and either bomb for tries or grubber in for repeat sets if we want to worry the better teams.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and whilst I agree that you fo not need superstars in the 9,6,7 and 1 positions, they are the key positio0ns in the team and what Karma and my opinions are is that we don't rate Dureau very highly as first grade material.

I think we all know where we stand on the matter and so lets talk about something else.

We could sign Shane Perry and our attack wouldn't be any worse - after all, even Perry won a comp. ;-)

Well yeah that's exactly my point. They won the comp with an average halfback because of cutie, Lockyer and Berrigan in the other positions. They replace Perry with a world class halfback but then have Berrigan is too expensive.

I agree that Dureau is deficient but the fact of the matter is we don't need a massive pay packet guy with our combinations. And I'd rather have Dureau over Orford if we make the finals anyway.
