Heaven forbid we might need to call Twal and Kalepi up...

Kalepi was solid today but he's not a first grader

What has happened to Kalepi?

He was arguably our best forward in first grade as an 18/19 year old, looked like he would be a superstar.

Is it just a case that our team was just so shit back then that he looked a lot better than he actually was?

No he wasn't, he was just our most powerful, and fans love that shit. He is probably still our most powerful forward but he is obviously a liability in other areas.

Agreed. He just doesn't seem to have kicked on. Are his shortfalls insurmountable? He is only 23 this year, but hasn't played first grade for over 24 months. I'm keen to see where he ends up next year.

Probably some of that too. He made his debut in 2013 but that year we had our current edge forwards Ma'u and Edwards at Wenty (though Edwards debuted in round 26). Moeroa played a bit of NYC that year too.

Going by yesterday's game I'd have no problems with Ray Stone playing first grade this year. Easily the best on ground and was crunching in defence. It's a shame he didn't get to line up at edge forward.

I totally agree OA but do you think his size might hold him back for a debut this year?

we know what you're referring to ya filthy pig

wow! he does look a bit slight around the legs but if he's the same size Brownie than I probably wouldn't hesitate throwing him a bench spot.

It surprises me that he's as big as Brown (weight / height wise, schlong-wise who knows?). He looks about 93-94kgs max on TV.
