I was told he was still there and also on the Eels prod cast that TCT and co produce, they mention there were some contract issues with him and I think taumata.

Who's talking about excuses? If it happens it happens for a reason. What could the reason possibly be for a 25 year old to be a worse player than he was at 22? It's only three years ago, and he was less experienced then.
