I watched the Cup game last night on Kayo to get a different perspective after seeing it live.

As @parra pete says, we need Josh Lynn in there and Asi can work it out. He’s good in open play / parra ball, but he’s too slow, a poor defender and poor kicker for 6. Too sluggy for centre and isn’t our fullback. So dunno.

Boods had a killer game. Doorey and Morretti can play NRL, as can Oggy and Makka.

Sammy L is only 21 and f**k it, ignore that he scored a sugar bag full, he looked very mature out there. He was marking up against Perham and Skeleton, so he did a good job. An example of what happens when you give your centres early ball and opportunities.

Ethan Sanders was steady Eddie. Blaize was fine. I don’t get the criticism of an 18 year old in this thread. Hard markers. Gifted kids.

The criticism towards Blaze is he dropped 3 bombs under no pressure amd also didn't bat an easy ball put that cost them a try.
He cost them 3 tries with very basic errors.
Nsw cup is where you learn yes but he also is next in line if we have an injury to a back so would anyone be happy for him to come in at fullback? I wouldn't. We need him in a position he is ready basicaly now if we have an injury. Things would change if we added some depth.
Highly talented yes. Fine? No

Who said that he would be fullback as next man up in #1 NRL ? He's 18 FFS.

As 18th man, he is in the dressing room learning. If he actually gets used, it will be a short stint or shuffled out wide.

Russell will probably be Gutho's TLT sub if injured, based on players available, with Lume coming in.

Who gives a shit about him dropping bombs in game 1 NSW Cup?

I would rather he drop bombs in Cup then at training. He needs to get more involved going for kicks and tackling players.

The Druggo ran right past him to score the other day which was a learning experience.

Playing him at fullback is better than playing him in the halves in cup for his development. Just needs some more confidence and at 18 he is fine setup some slick tries on Saturday.

He reminds me of Manu and how he came through

Exactly. Sometimes merkins need to pause and remind themselves how many times Blaize has actually played open age footy.

Can anyone guess ?

His team mates don't want to win? You want to build winning cultures. Dropping bombs happens. But don't say it's fine. It cost his team the game

OMG he has literally played 2/3 games of open grade footy in his life, Sargent Cranky.

Sam Ls only downside was that horrific tackle attempt on Perham. Apart from that even though he scored easy tries, he was always there which is all you can ask from an outside back. As you said he’s 21 and a former Australian schoolboy. Hopefully it all goes well for him and he can get back to where he looked to be headed

Going back to comments about Blaize not batting that ball out for the first try of the game. Yes Blaize should’ve done better there’s no denying that from me. But watch it again and tell me haze shouldn’t have dealt with that himself. He made his fullback work extremely hard to get to a ball so he could sit back and try stop attackers coming through instead of just knocking it out himself or better yet just grabbing it and grounding the ball. Haze was more to blame in that situation to me anyways even though yes Blaize should’ve dealt with it better

It isn't all over for him. If he keeps at it, and is happy to stay on low wages for 2-3 years he could make it to be a regular first grader. His problem was staying on the field, seemed to be injured every 3rd week.

Someone has probably already said it but Matt Arthur reminds me so much of Harry Grant. Just watched the whole game that I recorded from the weekend. Easily the best player on the field.

I’m impressed.
Yeah, I watched the first half on Kayo earlier today and I was paying attention to Marthur - he definitely has some skills.
