So Ryan matterson has been named at five eight for Wentys RM cup side...mmmmm!!

While Matterson hasn't set the NSW Cup on fire I think that is a pretty harsh demotion. His senior partner in the halves at Wenty has been far worse for mine.

Ironic that matterson was tipped for first grade. Could he end up dissapearing into oblivion?

Certainly a possibility. By the same token it took Ben Hunt a good 4 years to become a proper first grade half at the age of 24. If picking out a genuine first grade half from the 20s was so easy every team would do it and the salaries of the top halves wouldn't be so inflated.

This is true.A lot of halves dont crack it till 22.So he has a few years in wenty to learn his trade.

Why was ZDC brought into the 9 for Wenty forty than dropped to the 7 for under 20's after a very good game? I was confused.

On that I have zero clue mate. I didn't mind the move to be honest but to use it as a one off is very odd.

Close game in the RMC. Wests lead by 4 points with 11min to play. Halauafu Lavaka having a good game on the left wing.

Corey Makelim with the money ball down the right edge to Jake Butler-Fleming who steps off his right to beat the sliding defence and score after taking the ball all the way back to the posts.

Conversion is good.

Wenty hit the lead 26-24

Good line break from Nick Kassis but he slips as he comes to the fullback. Time off is blown on the next tackle when Dean Parata, who is back at Wenty, comes out of a tackle gingerly and is eventually helped off by the trainer.

Sharp run and quick play-the-ball gives Wenty plenty of time down their left and it sees Lavaka complete a hat trick for the day as well as close out the game.

Good comeback for our boys in the grade.

Full Time

Wenty 32 DEF Wests 24

Wenty to receive and run towards the club hosue in the first half.

Goodall fields the ball and uses Lussick to get the game underway. Alvaro follows with Moeroa up next.

Beau Henry puts in an early kick but the Tigers are well positioned for it with their fullback trapping it after one bounce.

So Matterson is dumped to RM cup but Sef week after week is picked to stink up first grade??? Don't tell me Matto has a poor attitude as well??? Sef's must be the best attitude of all time............

First penalty of the game for the Tigers after a charge down attempt goes awry. Beau Henry was the culprit and he takes a minute to get up as well.

Tigers on the attack.

It took some desperate cover defence to hold them out as well. They looked over for all money on our left edge but they repelled some crazy second phase ball.

A nifty kick from the Tigers then traps Quinlan in goals though so the pressure mounts.

A huge gust picks up behind Wenty as we hoof it out and I kid you not, the ball goes from try line to try line!

Toutai and Goodall get involved for Wenty up the middle, good run from the latter as well.

Lussick is used to bring up the last tackle and Kelly puts up a great torpedo bomb. The Tigers winger pulls away from the take at the last second and gets a VERY fortuitous bounce that allows him to secure the ball.

Wenty alas then give away the second penalty of the game.

Lussick puts on a good hit on ex-Eel Jordan Grant. Has rattled him there.

Wests complete their set with a kick that is eaten up by Wenty.

Simple went for the home team in reply, their kick is equally ordinary but it is a completed set none the less.

Neither team looking too adventurous as Wests finish another set - this time with a bomb that Quinlan takes well.

And it stands to reason that with neither team really impressing in attack the first points would come from an error. Ryan Morgan is the man to make it as he takes an early hit up and then pushes an offload that is intercepted by Josh Drinkwater. It looks like no one has any clue what is happening as Drinkwater races to the goal line to score a borderline bizarre try.

Conversion is good.

Tigers leading by 6-0
