Better set of defence from Wenty as they pin the Sea-Eagles in their own half. Hunt hands the ball off to Fritz for the kick return. Mackenzie gets involved next and cops some rough treatment.

Api Pewhairangi runs the ball and simply cuts through the right edge defence on Manly. Hunt's eyes light up as he pushes up in support but he can't get between the Manly cover defenders. Api weaves and steps through a number of chasers before linking up with support wide on the right edge. Wenty keep the ball alive and get it out to Ben Fritz who steps back inside the sliding defence to make it an early double for both Wenty wingers.

The conversion is successful.

A chance is squandered by Wenty as Goodall puts Mackenzie into space down the left. The pass is a tough one to take but not unreasonable but Cecil drops it.

Manly then pick up a penalty as Pat Mataele gets caught in the play the ball.

The Sea- Eagles focus their attack down Wenty's left edge but are repelled a number of times. They bring the ball back to their left and look to roll it in but Wenty dive on it - although there is a knock on. The Manly forwards race in to pack the scrum for once last play with seconds on the clock. They get there in time and posture for a right edge play. They win the scrum and immediately put the chip kick in. Mackenzie has no ideas about trying to catch the ball and jumps up and punches it dead.

Takai Moeakiola takes a bustling run from the kick off. Wenty ruck it out afterwards as Kelly and Hunt combine for a set play chip. There is a mile of space for Hunt to work in if her can get the bounce. The ball breaks back towards him but bounces too high and Hunt loses the ball.

Manly play the ball down their left and then look for a cross field kick. Mackenzie reads it well and takes it cleanly but loses the ball trying to fight for extra metres after the contact. The Sea-Eagles are thus gifted a great opportunity for the first points in the half.

They work the ball to the posts before coming to their left for a fast shift but a well timed jam brings the play to an end as Wenty force the error.

Wenty unleash Goodall down the left with a crisp movement but he is pulled down by the Manly #6 in an excellent cover tackle. The Magpies can't decide if they want to run the ball or kick it on the last and Pat Mataele ends up putting in a pretty handy kick that pulls up deep in the in goals. Ben Fritz chases hard but it beaten and Manly get back into the field of play.

The Sea-Eagle play no frill footy this set but Wenty pick up great territory after trapping the visitors in their half.

The home team then roar to life as a probing charge from the polar bear, Daniel Alvaro sees him bust into the backfield. He quickly looks for support and finds Danny Howard on his left. Alvaro shovels the ball off to Howard who fends past the fullback and scores down the left edge.

The conversion is successful.

Pat Mataele surges down the right edge, beating a couple of defenders before he is finally pulled down just over halfway.

Wetny lose some metres on the next play but a touchie races in as the tackle is completed. Time is off as the Manly #10 is called out. It looks to be for a knee. Not put on report but Wenty get a penalty.

Alvaro is upping his involvement as he frees his arm for a nice offload. Wenty then come down their right but Hunt's pass forces Fritz to stop in order to take it.

The Magpies shift the ball to Hunt on the sweeper on the last tackle as he comes down the right. He doesn't see anything on so he steps back to his left and fires the ball off to Api down the left who rolls the ball in goals and finds a line drop out.

From the restart, Takai Moeakiola absolutely steams on to the ball - bringing the crows to life before taking a well earned rest on the bench. Wenty build their attack down their left before Kelly picks out Ben Fritz with a pin point cross field kick, just as he did in the first half. Fritz timed his run to perfection and slams the ball down for a hat trick.

The conversion is unsuccessful.

Allgood loses the ball in a hit up and comes out of the tackle pretty gingerly. Manly on the attack now.

Alvaro is pinged for a push in the play the ball. Cheyse Blair runs an unders line down Manly's right and is hammered but Wenty concede yet another penalty two tackles later for a hand on the ball.

The glut of possession proves too much as the Manly #7 receives the ball in front of the posts, dummies, steps and runs through some lazy defence. The defenders had already slid for the pass and it was a simple matter for the #7 to stroll through and cross next to the posts.

Despite the ease of the kick, the conversion is unsuccessful.

Silly stuff from Ma'afu now as he puts the hand inside the thigh and lifts the runner past the horizontal. The tackle was completed and there was no need for it.

Manly riding a small shift in play.

Things comes unstuck as Manly raid our left. Fabian Goodall sticks out his massive mits to clean up the loose ball and is involved two tackles later as he makes a big hit up. Howard makes half a break and links up with Hunt who is quickly swallowed up. Kelly brings play down the right and double pumps to Howard before setting him on his way to the line. He looked for all money to score but it pulled down a metre short.

Wenty fail to do anything on their last tackle as Hunt chips for himself but the balls sails well too deep.

Manly punish Wenty from the tap restart, flying downfield before getting a penalty for an offside defender. The continue their assault down Wenty's right edge and are able to generate an over lap as Fritz doesn't have faith in Butler-Fleming read and the Manly centre is able to offload to his winger.

The conversion is unsuccessful.

Manly are feeing their arms now as they find space down our left edge. Fortune finally swings to Wenty as Butler-Fleming swoops in on a loose ball on halfway.

Wenty's attack is disjointed though and they make the better part of 20m before Kelly's driving grubber kick is well taken by the Manly winger.

They immediately switch the ball to the other side of the field and attack Wenty's left edge but the points come back down the right as their #12 simply swats past Butler-Fleming to score. Really, really weak stuff.

The conversion is successful.

Manly spill the ball from the kick off as Goodall cleans the pill up and steps back towards the posts. He then offloads to support as Wenty attack down their right edge. Mataele takes a charge wide on the right and is barely held up but he has created plenty of space for Wenty to work the ball back to their left.

They oblige as they shift the ball out to Goodall who does a lovely job to pull in the winger before putting Cecil Mackenzie over untouched in the corner. That makes it a double triple for our flankers today with Mackenzie and Fritz both netting 3 tries.

The conversion is unsuccessful.

Excellent metres for Wenty this set with Moeakiola taking a couple of strong hit ups. Pewhairangi and Hunt come together down the left for a Melbourne Storm-esque inside/outside play that sees Hunt make half a break.

Pewhairangi wants the ball on the last and fires a lazer-like ball to Mackenzie down the left who flies onto it before stepping inside the Manly fullback to nab his fourth meat pie.

The conversion is successful.

Lovely interchange of play down Wenty's left now. Hunt pumps the ball to Goodall, who ran a good decoy and then finds Mackenzie who heads downfield for a 20m gain.

Wenty then run it on the last as they come across the field. They have created the overlap but Butler-Fleming's pass to Fritz catches a Manly hand. No points but a fresh set for Wenty.

Scratch that, a fresh set AND points for Wenty as they spread the ball to Fabian Goodall from the scrum win. He simply beats his opposite and strolls over for an easy try. He also does Kelly the courtesy of improving the position.

The conversion is successful.

Big metres but nothing too flash from Wenty in this set after points. They end up completing the set with a towering bomb but it is taken cleanly.

Manly are desperate for some consolation points are are recklessly throwing the ball around. They ride their luck up until the final tackle of set where Wenty finally make contact as one of the speculators is taken - forcing an error.

Fabian Goodall has one last magic trick up his sleeve today as he storms down the left edge, beating two defenders and hitting the backfield. He takes on the fullback and then somehow frees his right arm to throw an incredible offload to Justin Hunt who looks back to marvel at the man who fed him the ball as he scores the final points of the day.

The conversion is successful.

Such an Eels result this year - concede plenty of points but still win big. At least the NRL side didn't follow suit.
