That Haele Finau run was epic.. it'll give him confidence for sure.. the speed he put on... but I do want to pour some 'coolish' water on too.. it was a short stint.. and to make it as a hooker, he has to be able to defend and provide quality service for long minutes (maybe he can, just making the point).. but certainly a run like that makes you think that at the very least he could play a great role as a 'specialist' bench utility even if he isn't a starting hooker.. he's also turning 23 soon, so he's not a baby.

His brother Sione, I'm not so sure about, he has had a few nice touches in the games ive seen... but he seems slow to turn, its my pet peeve in wingers that we seem to end up with at StGeorge .. I feel like if you cant turn, you are an easy target in defence.. I think there will be pressure to hold his spot..

Lobb though, there were some very skillful and physical moments in those highlights.. I havent seen that from him before.. very promising.. this could be a break out year for him.. I think the extra size is important for him if he's going to handle 1st grade.. I don't think hes in our development squad yet though.. but Sione above actually is.. so I think that will switch around for next year.

I really thought Sullivan was getting a last minute promotion, but helps the cup side immensely.. not looking good though with 8mins left.. was hoping they would get it done today.. Dogs r probably the form cup team, but with half their players in 1st grade.. I thought we were specials.

Did Tui do many minutes? His first game back from serious injury.
For me, one of the few highlights of the 2 games yesterday was the first up performance of Alec Tuitavake. I have been watching Fifita closely after all the hype of the pair being poached from Manly. To this point, in my opinion, Fifita has not matched the hype. On the other hand, I was very impressed with Alec T. Can't quote any stats except that he played just the 26 mins but ran and tackled very strongly. Very keen to be involved. Appears to be a very welcome addition.

Interesting to note that Lui-Toso was finally given a decent stint, 52 mins. Love the way he just tears into the opposition. Have watched Tamale in 3 successive games, Flegg and 2 x KOE - he continues to impress with his attack and quick thinking. A very clever try from dummy half. Not sure about his defence - some strong tackles and some dreaded arm grabbing misses. Good to see Jayden Sullivan's long kicking game - although in the main game, Ben Hunt put in some big floating bombs that the Bulldogs couldn't handle, it just appears to me that Sullivan has a better technique and more control over where the ball goes. One brilliant run from Treigh Stewart, though a chip and chase gave the ball back to the Bulldogs on the first tackle, deep in the opposition half. Not much more to note though Zane Musgrove was again strong throughout his 2 stints and Jacob Webster played the last 8 mins as 18th man.

awesome thanks for the update! The Success of Tui and/or Fifita is really important.. I feel like we havent had the impact we wanted from the emerging forwards, there is a lot of pressure on these 2 signings to correct that, plus they will be in our 30 I believe next year.. especially important with Kerr going.

Fifita still has the sternum issue, he needs a decent spell (rest) to get it right but he’s just plodding along, I’d say he’s only playing at 70% with meds.
appreciate knowing that.. and it makes a lot more sense for his reduced minutes.. you can see his potential.. is this the sort of rest he could/should take now rather than pushing through all season? Long way to go still.

I know we are busy imploding atm, but about 60secs of highlights from lower grades below:

JFlegg (Dragons from 1m09s): Not a huge amount to see, Dylan Egan #11 was good of course, but #21 a centre (who looks the size of a 2nd rower) called Campbell Watchirs.. keen to keep an eye on his journey.. very strong.

NSW Cup: Couldnt see much at all in that, other than Fifita def struggling with that injury and Tamale definitely moves and passes beautifully..

Not sure what our medical staff thinks is good for him but I’d give him further rest from contact, it’s a tough and painful sort of injury to return from. He must be a tough lad to be playing with pain.
Reduce, best thing for him would surely be no contact.. give him a couple of weeks off playing to get over it.. seems strange from medical staff like you said

Defence looks terrible across all grades for the Dragons.

Why not upgrade Tamale with the salary cap relief money.

There has been a lot of criticism of the Dogs results (with half the team out), but its also the way they are dominating NSW Cup & Jersey Flegg that is frightening.. what a pipeline.. both those teams are 2nd on the ladder despite having to shoot so many players up a grade to fix the 1st grade crisis.

I hope Hasler or whoever is somehow able to push the 1st grade method down the grades.. but thats going to take time, there is so much to undo in 1st grade let alone lower grades.
