Why not upgrade Tamale with the salary cap relief money.
CC
That might actually happen imo..I feel the NRL f***ed us a bit with the restrictions.. kind of covering their asses, but have made it quite difficult to fill the spot temporarily for the next 5 months or whatever.. noone worth that kind of coin is coming for 5 months.. so they would have to be in our 30 next year too really.. and if Ramsey did come back its tricky with our cap... but I guess it might promote competition..

But Tamale.. I mean hes only 19 and I think hes gone from SG to JF to NSW Cup in just a few weeks so its early days.. ... could he be useful 'this year' though in 1st grade? Maybe.. wer'e probably already paying him a fair bit as it is after winning his contract and stealing him from rugby.. maybe we should apply for that warchest that Vylandys was promising? But yeah we could upgrade him, but would he contribute to 1st grade in the next few months? Dunno but yeah he would probably be worth investing in.. unless we think we can get a genuine 1st grader externally.

I actually feel bad for the recruitment staff on this one, I dont know how what they can do.. they can wait and see which 1st grader gets injured or isnt performing and replace.. but you cant wait too long, seasons over soon.

Have been saying the exact same for the last few years. There is no intent for defence, how are they supposed to be right when progressing to the NRL. Our pathways has got a lot to answer for.
From the Mad Dragons Vodcast - Snapshot of defensive re: Reserve Grade Dragons v Dogs, pretty much sums it up. With Webster only playing the last 8 minutes??

“A lot of missed tackles in this game with only Zach Herring, Billy Burns, Nick Lui Toso, Ryan Couchman and Jacob Webster finishing above 90% efficiency.”

He was told not to play NSW Cup.. however I think it would be a really good sign if he does go and play with Liddle.. that side could do with a boost.. maybe he can even play right side :p

Any idea as to why he was told not to play? He's not on the injury list. Seems like they've dropped him from the club, not just the first grade side.

RV2010, Webster was named at 18. I missed the first 20 mins in which there must have been a concussion because Haele Finau was already on the field as well as Muhleisen. Took me awhile to realise centre Johnson was not on the field. I assume Webster got a brief run because of a 2nd concussion. Stuck with the Dogs till half time but then faded.

I think Lomax is higher profile, and he is quite emotional... so having a week to cool off and reflect.. is probably more palatable than "ur dropped, now go train with NSW Cup". The topic of getting his right centre gig back must have come up with Hook many times though.. I think there is a decision for the incoming coach tbh in terms of who he keeps there.. Suli is here till end of 24, Lomax end of 26 & im not sure how flexible Max is in terms of left vs right... but he plays right currently.

Liddle is different, because he's being dropped for a legit reason in the Captain Hunt experiment.. even if ppl would prefer him to mbye.

Couchman I think literally needs to be rested during the season..I think that's quite normal for younger forwards.. so 18th man is perfect cause he gets his rest, no pressure to play Cup, and worst case he gets on the field if something goes really wrong on Sunday.

Correct DS2. Shereb concussed in the 1st set off memory. He stayed on for a bit but was obviously taken for a HIA and didn’t return. Johnson only lasted about 1/2 of the 1st half as well. He was grabbing a shoulder when he went off. Not sure how bad, although he looked in quite a lot of pain. Billy Burns didn’t return in the 2nd half as he was 18th man for 1st Grade. With all that happening there weren’t many players left on the bench. Dan Russell played right centre for the majority and Fifta was right 2nd rower for a period of time. Not sure who Webster went on for though? But yeah down on troops, probably the reason why they faded.

I was at the ground, BGM. But only got there 20 mins into the Cup game. Last few weeks I have been trying to watch the lower grades to increase the chances of seeing a Dragons' win. The strategy failed on Sunday. Difficult this week with Cup team playing at Blacktown at 3pm Sunday while the NRL will still be battling the Tigers. Didn't know how lucky we were in the old days, being able to watch the 3 grades at the same venue. Those were the days, my friend!

Anybody catch the Round-4 JF replay today, Dragons v Sharks?

Nothing updated during the game, I think they must just get a summary at the end and someone will manually update things.

Wow! What are players made of these days?
Robert Stone, Mark Shulman, Billy Smith, John Dowling, Brian Johnson - all St George legends IMO and NONE of them were above playing reserve grade.
What a narcissistic shitshow modern Rugby League is.
