Coupla Flegg Notes:
  • First try, halves and TPH getting Toby Rumble in space, and the winger is able to get around his man, run down field and put a kick in, any of 3 dragons could have picked it up and fallen over the line.
  • Second try came off the back of a nasty crusher on TPH.. somehow hes not sent off.. TPH eventually plays on.. we spread it, and again Toby Rumble beats his opposite winger with speed.. kicks ahead.. this time its a battle to regain the ball but Lyric CTM the centre gets it down for 12-0.
  • 3rd try soon after.. Treweek the #12.. a bit of a forgotten man, one of the guns in last years Steelers SG side.. but lost behind Halangahu, CST etc.. has 3-5 tacklers around him, a couple drop off thinking the others have got him down.. but they dont.. he spins and carries the last 2 on his back to score, 16-0. Half Time.
  • After half time Souths get a couple of sets on our line.. TPH grabs a defender thats in front of the ruck.. pulls him to his other side.. but he leaves a gap for a second there where the souths player is able to burrow over the line.. I guess that one is on TPH.. counting numbers but actually causing the try in doing it... Although #13 Alhazim was right there also.. probably didnt adjust to what TPH was doing. 16-6.
  • So we defend our line and end up battling our way up field with a big run from Treweek and others.. get a penalty and then Treweek starts fending off everyone in his path and barnstorming his way over the tryline.. can I say that he was the standout 2nd rower in Steelers SG.. and he is massive frame this year.. if he keeps this up.. well tbh we probably lose him because we have too many 2nd rowers in front of him.. but mate this is a dominant showing from the bloke... Eden Hodges #6 goalkicking really well from out wide... 22-6.
  • Been some really nice defence in this 2nd half, held a few up over the line.. TPH tenacious in D as always as well, any side could do with a competitor like that @ fullback.
  • I am sort of tired at watching 6s and 7s that are competent but nowhere near as good as ur Reed, Hammoud, Ah Kee etc.. ive switched off.. but im a big fan of goalkickers.. its too valuable, so im gonna keep an eye on this Eden Hodged moving forward, hes put together some lovely long passes today, just set one up there to cut out about 3 defenders and set Barrett th length of the field.. but the kid dropped it cold sadly. Also his kicks for touch are massive.. so kid with a big boot.. but I dont even know where hes come from or what the rest of his game looks like yet.
  • Another high shot on TPH.. the poor kid is going to have a career of this crap sadly.. gets up and chucks up at the biggest souths player on the field who just laughs at him.. hilarious..
  • Souths go in for 1 more with about 5 to go, was just a really nice run and late offload and we couldnt stop it.. 22-12... in the process of defending it I think Alhazim has hurt himself trying to tackle also.. he stayed on briefly but cant really run... hes also on report for I thought not very much.
  • Weve sort of clocked off at this point.. and Afu #4 far out misses the ball trying to bat it dead and Souths score 22-18...
  • There was a lot of injury time in this game so it was a tense last few minutes tbh, we gave away a few panelties and on report for stupidity.. had them attacking our line and needing great defence to save it.. got an intercept and ran the length and started throwing ridiculous passes to try and score instead of holiding it to close out the game.. absolute madness.. 6 mins of injury time.. we won but far out.. 22-18. Epic Game.
In the end a great win for a squad of all the backup players that are fighting for spots with all the big names.... the forgotten players.. I wasnt even going to watch this game.. but glad I did.. lots of blokes had good games, but the 2 standouts for me that have come on since SG Ball are #2 Toby Rumble who is putting on more muscle (was rly skinny last year), still has a bit more to put on, but a bit like his older brother who was dominant at this age, he is really starting to break holes in defensive lines.. hes running lines more like a centre and burning blokes with his speed.. 2 try assists off his kicks.. impressive... hes faster than his brother though. And the other was Treweek #12 which I have crapped on about before.. very dominant in the higher grade.
