Good that the Swiss didn't win, even if it had to be England beating them.

Greece with another disgraceful choke, bad for the game imo. As they say, when Greece is strong, Konami Cup football is strong.

Quick recap.

Konami Cup XX was won by the evil Swiss beating a gallant Greece in the final. Seriously f-ck Switzerland.

Jamaica atoned for Greece in the 21st edition, beating Switzerland 3-1.

Stay tuned for Konami Cup XXII.

I think we've all got high hopes for Greece heading into Konami Cup XXII. They're overdue.

Spain v Nigeria would have to be the greatest game of football ever played and also very prophetic as Spain go on to win the treble of Konami Cup, Euro and World Cup. Prestige in that order.

Konami Cup XXII update... yes it's underway.

The table? Here is it.

Pts
Jamaica 9
South Africa 9
Switzerland 7
England 5
Germany 4
Sweden 2
Netherlands 2
Japan 2
Greece 2
Scotland 2
Wales 1
Peru 1

Yes, a tough start for Greece. Draws with Peru and Germany, before Shaun Bartlett stung them with late goals to lead South Africa to a stunning 2-0 win. Arsenal and Fabio Fatasskiss must pick up their game to get the Greeks out of this early hole. South Africa are no doubt the shock of the tournament winning their opening 3 fixtures. Jamaica have been sharp to date. Nibblet Jones has been on song. It is nothing less than what we have come to expect from the great Jamaican.

The player to watch? Nolberto Salano.

So, for fear of being rude, this thread is referencing the Konami Cup in the original PES right?

Confused about Tonearm's involvement in this thread tbh, but I guess a douchebag element amongst the supporters is crucial to any major football tournament

Japan, Peru, Wales and Scotland all eliminated.

Top 8 now jostling for position. Jamaica lead table on 22 points. Greece 2 back on 20. Bless their hearts.

Konami Cup XXII update

Jamaica 22 (played 9)
South Africa 21
Greece 20 (played 9)
Switzerland 19 (played 9)
Netherlands 16
Germany 15 (played 10)
Sweden 13 (played 10)
England 13 (played 10)
---------------------------
Japan 11
Peru 8 (played 10)
Wales 4
Scotland 2

Just a few games remaining. Each side plays 11 all up. Just waiting on Sweden v. Germany, England v. Peru, and then the traditional round robin ending showdowns between the big 3.

Inspired effort so far. Jamaica looking to hold off a charging Greece to claim the minor premiership. Switzerland remain unbeaten, meaning they have only lost once in their last 39 Konami Cup matches. I'd dearly love to hold Switzerland to 4th. Germany have claimed the Benson and Hedges shield.

Netherlands making a late run, winning 4 of their last 5, after going winless through the 1st 6 rounds. They were reinvigorated by an inspired Edgar Davids and the Bread Knife Pierre van Hooijdonk.

Ryan Giggs clearly struggling. Bringing his personal life onto the pitch for Wales who failed to win a single game. What a disgrace.

Top scorers Jamaica's Nibblet Jones, and Peru's Claudio Pizarro, each with 7.

Greece have claimed the minor premiership on goal difference from Switzerland and Jamaica, after defeating Jamaica 1-0 in the final match. JCMB. Playoffs shape up like this.

4 - South Africa v 5 - Germany
3 - Jamaica v 6 - Netherlands
2 - Switzerland v 7 - England
1 - Greece v 8 - Sweden

recap time -

sweden and england both eliminated in the opening round. greece and switzerland earning a week off.

round 2 pitted jamaica against south africa together. tbph, i forget what happened here. but jamaica triumphed 1-0 courtesy of a nibblet jones goal. in the other game the netherland coasted past on ordinary germany, 2-0.

so to the preliminary finals. jamaica travelled to switzerland's legion of doom. 0-0 at half time. in the 2nd half jamaica ran riot scoring 4. pavlo goog sent off in disgrace late in the match. final score 4-0. greece then hosted the netherlands. van nistelrooy opened the scoring early. a shock lead for the dutch. greece leveled early in the 2nd half. arsenal dramatically earning a penalty which he coolly converted. 1-1 at full time. extra time followed. giorgis fatasskiss dramatically gave the lead to the greek, only to be immediately pulled back by pierre van hooijdonk's emphatic header. 2-2. with penalties approaching martin denyer broke the line and scored to hand greece a 3-2 win and a place in the final.
