The signing might be ok but if anything is just a little premature IMO.

All good to be wax lyrical about the games we won with him & Marshke in the halves minus Hunt but as we are now minus Marshke and Hunt we would know a lot more about K F's role in those wins.

What pressure were we actually under to be so quick to give him 2 more years?

If it's a condition we have to comply with to keep the coach then we have the wrong coach.

I’m ok with the extension, without investing in million dollars players in our half or hooker ie is ilias or Atkinson, cook or Liddle we lack some super stars but we still have quality and security in the halves, hooker and 14 for a number of years. Previously we tied up a lot of money in the halves. Now we can retain and recruit across the team better

The risk is will they stand up against the more esteemed players, I like the gamble and anticipate a good outcome.

It may not be a condition of retaining the coach but certainly won’t hurt.

The noise of nepotism will always exist with father and coach combos (unless you are Nathan Cleary) but I think if we do well the noise will fall on deaf ears.

I like this particular father and son combo. There’s generations of Dragon’s support behind their connection to the club. They’re both strong characters who show real resilience and commitment. Nobody can predict the future but I hope both father and son stay with us for a long time to come.

Imo, the extension is designed for KF to transition into the hooking role full time (or shared 9/14).
Cook has only a few years left, and liddle isn't a full game hooker. Young Hjaltason is also few years away from full time first grade, if he even gets there.

There's also the introduction of the new team or teams to enter the comp, which will bleed the system even more.
Rather than fishing around, starting afresh will new look spine, ours will he long established and hopefully exceeding expectations.

So, imo, this is smart, and if it comes with a head coach extension even better. All good teams have stability, this is the ultimate aim in this case.

Flanno knows how to build a team but then to sustain what you build is really tough. It is difficult bcs there are so many forces always pulling teams apart - poaching, age, expansion, injury - while at the same you really have to be looking 5 years down the track for succession planning. Abundant good juniors is ofc essential.

If you cant see the differnce between mary and flanno then your blind. And i was a staunch mary supporter. IMO Flanno is one of the best coaches we have had in a very long time

Just curious as to what you guys are paying Kyle. There's a reason why he is playing for his 4th club in 6 years. You shouldn't have to take on the coaches son just to keep the coach on side. On the plus side.... I reckon Gutho...Cook and Val are all positive signings for you guys assuming they stay fit and healthy.

Really ignorant comment. Might be good to have a closer look at how those moves happened.
Was poached by the Roosters from the Sharks - they must have seen something in him.
Then made the scapegoat at the Roosters because they failed to make a grand final. Didn't really do much wrong if you go back and watch the games. Wobbo needs someone to blame when his one dimensional coaching and his salary cap stretching roster fails.
Was picked up by the Bulldogs with a terrible roster and was made the scapegoat again for a club that at that stage was rivalling the Dragons and Tigers for braindead coaching, recruiting and roster decisions. Had his confidence literally crushed by a coach who decided it was the halfback's fault for the terrible way the rest of the team was playing.
Came to the Dragons for a fresh start and has been solid all year. His father isn't dumb enough to keep his son in the squad just because he's his son. He sees a role for him in the 17 for the next few years. That's good enough for me.
