All very valid points but should Shane go we’ll sure as he’ll be stuck with Dean which isn’t an improvement.
Agreed Young being head coach would be the worst possible scenario. If that did happen I would genuinely walk away. Would be a terrible, terrible appointment and would show nothing has changed at all. Not to mention, the team would be tragically bad yet he wouldn't be removed for a long, long time. It'd be a very sad indictment on the club.

However, there is nothing concrete that they would just simply give the job to Young. It would be a Dargons thing to do for sure, but we don't really know that's what would happen. I think most Dragons fans would be in uproar if the job was given to Young, and the only people pushing for it are people like Jake Marketo, who may also be a certain poster on here (speculation).

Another push for ex dragons players JM mentioned on his post Young coach Hornby assistant Ben creagh GM . What a complete joke job for the boys all over again no experience just ex players that last won a GF together for the club.

The reality is who replaces him, Ilias? He has already been dropped. Is it a case of pit of the frying pan and into the fire
It doesn’t matter who replaces him. Nothing changes until we get a forward pack. I’m not defending Kyle and he’s had some poor moments but he is a minor problem.

It’s. The. Forwards.

Take Kyle out of last weeks team and replace him with either of the NSW cup halves and our pathetic forwards still get belted into submission and the opposition still rolls up the field at will. And we still lose the game.

Young had a go and was not up to it.

I reckon the pasting of KF and Sloan in particular is a tad harsh. Their errors might be highly visible but as other posters have pointed out, it's the performance of the forwards in both attack and especially in defence.

I've been watching KF more closely the last few weeks and he does seem to have a decent long kick in him - just that he's inconsistent and more prone to a miss-hit than many others. When he gets it right it goes ok but he's just not as sweet a striker as the premier kickers.

Regardless, he's often kicking from his own 40 and unfortunately, the opposition is often kicking from our 40 too. So his kicks are defensive and find a well-set winger or FB who proceeds to rack up the kick return metres. Meanwhile opposition kicks are attacking and it's pretty hard to notch decent kick return metres when defusing a bomb on your own 5 metre line.

So KF cops crap for some dud fifth tackle plays (justified) and Sloan for dropping some bombs (also justified). But until we have a pack that can cut it with the better teams, these fellas are on a hiding to nothing.

Two further points: KF may not be an elite half but our last one wasn't either. And at least Kyle's half the price. I also suspect (only by observation - no intel whatsoever) that Sloan may be busted. He's not chasing through the middle like he was six weeks ago. Might be on instruction (doubtful), a lack of confidence (possible), a lack of care (very unlikely) or an undisclosed injury.

None of this is to say that as a club we shouldn't be aiming to do better at half and wing. But until the real problem is solved, you could slot in a 1 - 7 of immortals and they'd still get rolled (just possibly by not as much).

And meanwhile we kick-up such a stink about things that concern us that they become self-harming. I’m sure journos read this stuff and wind-up the drama and it ends up feeding upon itself.

Kyle Flannagan is a fit, tough player; does tackle well and a pretty good goal kicker. However, he is a comparatively slow halfback, not a long kicker of the ball and doesn’t bother the defence line. I think some criticism is a bit unreasonable but yes We need some one with more creativity in the game if we are to make it past August.

He may not be a bad 1/2 back but hes not a good one either. When we played the Dolphins, we saw a real 1/2 who ran rings around us. Last week against Cronulla KF barely ran, passed the ball at bad times and died on the 6th tackle with it. We need and deserve better than this. After everyone told us what a great 1/2 Hunt was, weve become used to second best. IF Flanno thinks his son is doing well, then he’s deluded. I saw enough of this with bloody Cory Norman who for some reason couldn’t get dropped either. Surely its time for Glover and King Tongia to be given a go because it aint working presently and im getting very sick of seeing of seeing our guys constantly keep losing over many years because we couldnt adapt and change when it was plainly obvious. Flanno is starting to lose me if he thinks the way we play is acceptable

Unfortunately if you are the coaches son you need to be exceptional, because when looking for excuses for losses you will be the easy target. Never mind our forwards that are relatively meek and mild and never get us playing off the front foot. We have the worst roster in the NRL with a forward pack held together by a few promising juniors. We need to be either patient and wait for the juniors to mature or get active in recruitment and import some top shelf talent.....not rejects from lower tier teams. The coach is not the problem! As many have asked on here....which coach is there on the market that can do better with this roster?

Agree he's shown potential but the NRL is a different beast. I'm still in the Flanno camp....but we need to improve our "worst in the NRL" roster. If you look through all the NRL rosters we have the worst by a long way.
So why would Flanagan say before a ball was kicked that we're a way better team this year than last year?

Surely fans can take the coach's word as gospel without having to backtrack and come up with excuses when it turns out he was misleading us all.

We deserve much better.
