His mistakes yesterday were understandable
Drop ball: he wasn't trying to protect his body or was way out of position, he was looking up at the defenders trying to make a counter attack and lost sight of the ball
Short drop out: trying to win possession back for the team and change the momentum of the game

Those errors were frustrating but I doubt we win any game this year if we don't have Miller.

The short drop-out was stupid. We were up by 10 and had a massive breeze at our backs. Definitely not the time for a low percentage play like that

Have more issues with the drops than the short drop out. He'll get those right and we should be kicking them often.

Not defending him tonight. That was some Paul Carige level shit.
As I mentioned earlier he’s the fullback version of SKD, does some great things but unfortunately I think you have to take it as a given that the costly errors are going to be part of his game

Can you carry a fullback with those sorts of issues in their game? Maybe you can, I dunno. My preference is he fixes it, but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere at the moment which is a worry 7 games in.

The things he's adding to us you can't easily replace. Energy and willingness. You could also say he's done a great job at organizing our line and cleaning up some balls.

I'm not even mad about his short drop outs. They are a 50/50 ball - when they actually go 10.

Some stuff is very ugly. I have faith, just like SKD, he can get to a level where he won't be so costly, but he'll always have that brain fart in him.

He looked rattled to me at times tonight. Usually he composes himself and kicks on.
Too much responsibility with him goal kicking.

The goal kicking was especially bad considering there was no breeze to speak of. After 1 bad kick you should be getting it right after that.

If only the Knights had someone in the club's coaching staff who knows a thing or two about kicking...

All kinds of kicking. Goal kicking, drop outs, ect.

When's the last time we had a good goal kicker playing every week? Mason Lino was one of the best in the comp but was always a backup half.

One of your best every week, not bad for a rookie.

You would think a Union convert could kick goals. Not his fault you have no one better.

I was just thinking about this. Mitch Barnett was probably our best goal kicker (percentage wise) over the past 5 years!

He’s still a work in progress. He could be anything - he has to make some smarter decisions, particularly around short kickoffs and when. Giving Penrith that much opportunity at times when they are getting on top of us just isn’t good enough. Jacko (being the most vocal) probably also needs to play a cooler head in the decision making of when to use it and when not to as well.

The frustrating part is that he's 28 - 29 this year, and not 20. If he was 20, you'd be salivating at the prospect of what he could be in a few years. In a few years he'll be slowing down physically and close to retirement though. He needs to get it all fixed up a lot quicker than most.

AOB was asked about the short dropouts in the press conference and said we need to practice them more, that our shape was right but we weren't getting the execution needed. So I'm not sure they're a Miller thing, it seems like a plan. One we need to drop or use sparingly tbh.

It's 100% part of the coach/team game plan.

I think there was a big over reaction to the one in the second half. We were fresh off half-time and it was a chance to make up for our error.

It was either kick the ball to Penrith and give them a whole set to go at us or go for the 50/50 and try and make up for the error. So as a gambling man I felt that was actually the perfect time to try it, just a shame about execution.
