We need to be smarter at how to use the short dropout/kickoff, which means more variety. Penrith were stacking their defense in the exact location Miller was going to kick to, but we kept kicking it there anyway- it was no longer a 50/50 play.
Notice what Cleary was doing? He was kicking to where there was open space or a lone defender- sometimes towards the sideline, or centre field, could have been 10m deep or 25m.
And I still think he needs to drill the occasional kick low- aim for touch, or straight to a player hoping that they knock on or the ball rebounds back towards us to regain possession.
