The cattle just isn't there guys. They overachieved under smith and stone, but who wants a side playing like that every year. I turned the semi final off after 15 mins last year. "they are done".

When Bennett stripped the paint back to base metal, took all of the shit out of our game and said go out and dominate up front, we saw the team for what they are. Now we build a solid base of forwards, start to dominate some games and go from there. That is how you win comps.

Yeah very similar to posts I've made before.

We were never going to win a comp playing the way we have the last few years. I'd rather be losing while trying to rectify that than scraping into the 8 playing the same way and being cannon-fodder for the real teams come finals time.

Rubbish.

A) They just aren't having a dig.
B) You should be saying Smith and Stone got them to overachieve, which doesn't say much about Bennett in this situation.
C) 1-17 the roster isn't actually terrible plenty of ex rep players there don't forget.

Bennett should've recruited more size if he wanted to play a forward based game. Snowden is big but the rest are undersized, how Bennett couldn't see that is beyond me. Bottom line is everyone here knew Sau was a dud yet Bennett chose to re-sign him rather than use the money to sign another forward who could help implement his style, another crazy decision was getting into a f**king bidding war over Wes Naiqama and then giving him a 3 year contract when he's 29 years old and had never shown much in his career anyway, now 6 months on we can't even get rid of them because they're that bad

Even Warren Buffett has picked duds in the past. everyone makes mistakes. wb won't make the same one twice though.

I can forgive him making a mistake but Sau and Wes were 2 glaring mistakes that most of us so called arm chair critics probably wouldn't have made. Most people weren't keen on retaining Sau, it was glaringly obvious that he had limitations in his game that weren't rectifiable, yet Bennett somehow overlooked them. I think WB thought he could get the most out of Sau and teach him a few new tricks, but honestly if a bloke has played footy his entire life, trains 5 days a week and still can't f**king draw and pass a football by age 24 after 3 years of 1st grade football than he probably won't ever be able to draw and pass.
I can excuse Bennett signing someone like Albert Kelly hoping he can mentor him and get the best out of him, but to re-sign a centre who can't pull off a simple draw and pass is inexcusable.

Speaking of Warren Buffett, do you think he'd ever buy shares in a company that couldn't perform fundamental tasks?

Well with Naiqama and Sau I'd say he pretty much did exactly that mate.

3-year deal for Wes was just insane, and not just because he's turned to junk. He wasn't even that great last year - people just got all excited because he was doing alright while Mad Dog was injured and somehow it became easy to forget what a centre who can pass looked like.

WB needs to import some size and skill in the back-row. Halfback would be nice too but that's a different story.

exactly. Wes was shit during his entire time here besides for about half a dozen solid performances last year. I even laughed when his manager said he was a big name, yet somehow Bennett got conned deluxe, we got duped big time and its really come back to bite us hard. I don't care if its Wayne Bennett or Paul Langmack, any coach who gives a 3 year contract to someone of Naiqama's age and ability deserves to be criticised. FFS I would've rather kept Antonio Kaufusi who atleast has size and abit of ability if not the consistency and application.

Just on the size in the backrow bit, you'd think that would help, although I'm not sure Wayne agrees because we've signed 98kg Beau Scott who granted plays above his weight and we're chasing 95kg David Stagg and we're letting go 107kg Zane Tetevano
