Yes that’s correct. You can’t deliberately tap it over a defender but when going for an intercept it’s ok to make a grab for it and tap it forward/up.

It’s a grey area and one of those shit rules.

As I stated at the time, it happened right in front of me& I thought it was a no try as I thought it hit the knights player as Holmes juggled it.

As soon as that was cleared, try everyday.

The tap forward also happens on most cross field kicks, usually to the winger in goal competing for the ball in the air. It happens all the time and if it doesn't touch a defending player - T R Y

Lord Ted did the tap over to score a spectacular try in the GF I believe. He also knocked himself out scoring. It wasn't the tap over the top try.... I just found it on Youie Tube.
