From fans of other clubs...

The fans that mattered.

For the record, souffs were more than happy to let Newton go bust to get their hands on Newtowns juniors...

More than that.

It would continue the damage that league was bleeding as well souths had organised a whole new team of players, sponsors, TV rights and the acrimony against the NRL and News Ltd.

I actually don't think the game has improved since the whole war.

As for Newtown Juniors where were they supposed to go? Some went to Saints, Canterbury and Souths which also has Roosters juniors in it.

So it's ok for souffs to pick over the bones of other clubs?

Ok

So why didn't the NRL kick souths out after winning the high court case?

"The National Rugby League has confirmed that today's High Court decision would have no effect on the make-up of the Telstra premiership," the NRL said in a statement.

NRL chief executive David Gallop said it was good to see all legal issues had now been fully resolved.

"It has never been the intention of either of the NRL partners however that the case would affect South Sydney's future in the competition in anyway," he said.

"Souths are a valued part of the competition and we will continue to work with them in the years ahead.

"We are already a long way down the track towards renewing the licences of Souths and every other team in the Telstra premiership."

The bloodletting was over.

Why didn't they leave souffs out?

Perhaps the fans of other clubs had something to do with it?

Would any business or competition would give a shit if an excluded teams fans were cranky?

No.

While you're there

Ben Elias Feb 2002

Elias said he would apologise to the Rabbitohs on behalf of the Tigers if elected. He said Balmain had stabbed South Sydney in the back. (Austar)

No.

Murdoch papers ignored souths during superleague war.

The telegraph started 2002 with a 12 page feature on Souths.

It was the good news story league needed after killing itself for 3 years.

Stabbed souffs in the back? Well, shit. I'll have to hand that one to Benny.

The man certainly knows how to stick the knife in, no doubt.

Take it from me Souffs fans: the excitement won't last. Old Wayne isn't the serious coach he used to be. Mitchell will be 10 kilos heavier and will give zero f**ks by the end of the season.

A great deal for Souths. They need another centre no doubt.

Paying only what he is worth if he has a dig and if the reported figures are correct.

Maybe Bennett can get him to rep standard so NSW has some centre depth if needed this year?

I think his is a good move for both Latrell and Arrow.
With Waynes coaching and man management and Rustys pep talks these 2 could turn into future Australian reps.
