Almost certain we didn't need the salary cap relief to make a play at Arrow.

I believe those funds were set aside for a play at Fifita.

Take it for what is worth but Latrell was out with the Bunnies boys at fight night last night.

Ive been saying this for a while, the only way this whole Latrell business makes sense is that he has been a done deal there for months.

Latrell apparently said in an interview today that he's happy to remain at the Roosters. Not sure if he'd be okay with 800k a year as offered but I think I'd be okay with Jake Friend leaving if we could retain Latrell. Verrills was great last season and will no doubt grow as a player with a full pre season underneath him and Friend is coming closer to the end of his career.

If he signed with Souths I think he'd be public enemy number 1 for Roosters fans.

I just watched that interview (NRL.com). Not a bad puff piece, he seems like a good bloke. But for me it just about ensures he is going to Souffs. First NRL announce the Burgess cap relief and then immediately release a polished slick feel good smother piece on Latrell. It’s all the NRL media wheels greased and turning.

i hate how predictable and transparently biased the NRL has become.

He seems like an alright bloke with a decent head on his shoulders but his immaturity and poor advice is obvious. There's an 'everyone is against me' vibe that he needs to grow out of.

Told Roosters he wants to look around, but is then shocked when Roosters offer is off the table. What did you think was gonna happen? Roosters won't leave their offer on the table to be used as a bargaining chip. Simple business.

I applaud his standing against racism but his cracks at Fittler and the NSWRL (Foxsports is reporting that the unedited interview has Latrell implying he was treated poorly after the anthem protest) are ridiculous.

I watched the unedited version and I didnt think he made that big a deal of it, and he was asked the question. The way he answered it was pretty inoffensive IMO. I think the NSWRL has made a bigger deal of it than it needed to be. He pretty much specifically said it wasnt why he was dropped.

Jake at the end of his career huh? The guy is only 29. He'll be playing for a few more years yet. Also Sam did well last year, but he's still a relative rookie.

Further they are the only two specialist hookers in our first grade squad, I would not punt Jake at all. To borrow a parallel, this is what happened when the club had Pearce, Maloney and Hastings fighting to be in the halves., the club went with the youngest two (i.e. Pearce and Hastings) and let Maloney go after Hastings had 1 good year coming off the bench and look what happened the following season. One season does not a career make.

The bloke is entitled to feel the way he feels, if he felt a certain way after the anthem thing then he can feel it, its not like he said the NSWRL was dressed up in KKK robes or something.

Well he is being advised by Anthony Mundine, and when he was in league he blamed similar things for his non-rep selection time after time. The comments from Latrell, if accurate, sound like something Mundine would have said.

What I find interesting is this little snippet from an article on the WWOS website reporting on this -

When a guy comes out and says that "playing in the centres for years was becoming a chore" that's a massive red flag on attitude for mine. Especially when he is seeking a position change.

Rugby league is a team sport and if you're good enough to make the NRL, you play in whatever position is best for the team. People are always comparing LM to GI well, GI played in the centres for years because having him there and Slater at Fullback was better for the Storm.

What if a team signs LM to play fullback and it doesn't work out? Will his pride stop him from being switched back to centre?

Personally, If I were a recruitment manager making a judgement call on whether to sign him or not, I'd be steering well clear. I hope whoever is calling the shots at Souths does the same.

Exactly. Especially when guys like Gorden Tallis and Laurie Daley (who both have well known aboriginal heritage) were in the Australian team. Mundine kept thinking it was an individual game and not a team game. Mitchell seems to be going down the same path, which if it is the case, is sad to see and hear.
