You got some gall labeling a bloke like Graham Lowe geniused....

Like him or not... He's forgotten more about the game of rugby league than you'll ever know.

If he's what you would consider geniused... You'd be lucky to be considered a vegetable...

Do you read his articles?

Do you think the Jordan comparison was sane?

I remember a few years back Peter Sterling saying out of all the players to have left the NRL Ali was the one he was most disappointed about.

Was the best forward in the game at a time when players like Webke, Tallis and Hindmarsh were still in their prime.

Pitty he didnt come back at 26 not 36

Was definitely mark graham that made that ridiculous Jordan comment

That Lowe comment is hovering around the same level though !!

Well you have an over the hill halfback now, thanks for that.

Yes we do but at least he is replacing the worst half to play NRL in the last 20 years in Chad Townsend, at least he's off to ..................... oh ................. sorry buddy

Well since were looking backwards to go forward at the moment and talking genius, we still need a proven centre with experience and possibly looking for a job. Come on down Dean Bell !!

It's a great opportunity for the lower grade guys to have a mentor with top level experience playing with them, and also some experience to call on in an injury crisis. God knows if we'd had an over the hill half or centre on a second tier contract last year we could've used him!

I agree with this. It's just a good PR move as well. The local fan base - ie South Auckland - will absolutely love seeing Ali around again, and being able to watch him run around for the NSW Cup side.

Why did he leave in the first place, Daniel Anderson?

No, not DA. It was that arrogant prick, Mick Watson. Ali put family and his religion before winning a premiership. Watson flicked him immediately.

We've had some doozie CEO's - Robson, Watson, Scurrah - all lauded by sycophants at the time - all profoundly limited in their own ways

The signings about off field stuff aye.

The young local guys have only really had Manu to look to for inspiration, probably been that way since Wiki retired.

If Ali did get to Fg for a game, and it back fired, that would take the shine off the whole deal.

Playing in the NSW cup for a season won't be beyond ALi.

It pretty much makes him unique in our short history, a second tier contract player, bought in to inspire from the reserves.

He is a realistic depth player, but your probably talking the odd game off the bench in total.

The defensive side of the game is where Ali would find it tough going (that's hardly news) but as we saw recently, he still has more weapons in attack than most / if not all of our forwards.

Plenty of media articles to come next year I'm sure " Ali says the game has sped up since he last played" ..... etc

Should be a good attention grabber for the code.

Pretty sure the Jordan comparison was about Ali's freakish basketball-esque offloads. Don't think anyone was claiming that he was the greatest player ever to play the game.

Get the reservations some have about Ali coming back, but he's one of my all-time favorite players - will get a buzz out of seeing him playing in a Warriors jersey again, regardless of which grade he's in.

My favorite league player ever, certainly the most gifted I have seen on a football field particularity for such a big man.

Mick Watson - what a wanker for getting rid of such a talented athlete. MORON!!

For all the hype of SBW, Ali was a better player and I think more gifted - a one in a life time player. So sad he never became the ultimate player she should of been in the NRL.

Id be a bit worried if Monty Betham and Awen Guttenbiel dust off the boots as well and get 1 year contracts!

You're right about the Jordan comparrison . That comment was made while Ali was still on the rise, so it never intended a measure of Careers against a basketballer that had lead his team to multiple championships by that time.

We saw what he could do in games, Warrior insiders would have seen him do feakish things in training every week that would leave people going WOW....

SBW in an interview was asked who inspired him, the first name was Ali.

SBW has been trying to be ALi like with his hands and footwork ever since.

He's pulled off some magic, but even he can't do a one handed reverse pass that looks on a par will Ali's deft soft touch....its just not as fluid.

Can't think of a forward that big who could twinkle toe spin on a dime like Ali either.

I'd take a 36 year old Ali (whom I said should be inspiring our young guns via Mopping Floors lol) seriously though I'd take a 36 Year Old Ali over a 30 Year Old Logan Swann we had a few years back. Mosdef an off-field type of signing but with our horror injury run for 2015 who knows what 2016 has installed. He will be in the 9's

Watson was covering his own ass after he made a play for Wiki orPrice for 2005, then it backfired when they both signed and we were too far over cap. Suddenly Ali was gone for "lacking commitment", Vinnie Anderson was dumped because he "refused to turn down a Kiwis jersey and focus on his offseason", Leuluai, who was a promising youngster wasn't offered an extension on a nothing contract, Jerry SeuSeu and Fa'afili were shown the door and we were left with two big stars signed up with noone to play under them. Even them we were over cap and got pinged

Watson should have been tarred and feathered. Instead PR clown Richard Becht crawled up his ass with the most bootlicking BS I've ever seen in the "Warriors Nation" book. Four pages of absolute drivel.
