Christopher Irvine is a reporter for RL who has a blog at the times, an English paper, he is doing a tour of duty around France leading up to the Test match and he will be posting in his blog each day what he sees and what he gets up to, I'll post the links in here everyday, leave some comments at his blog if anything tickles your fancy.

Well done Chris on the blog, I read it everyday.

Day 6.

http://timesonline.typepad.com/rugby_league/2008/06/le-blog-day-6-w.html

We turned off Francoise (our Sat nav lady) and went off road en route to visit Lezignan-Corbieres, where I once reported on Billy McGinty's Scotland playing France in an obscure match. At the league bar in town, Le Conti - why is it that the sport in France invariably revolves around bars ? - a recording of the South Africa v Wales union international on the TV was being ignored. The discussion centred on Catalans' fine win on Saturday night. There is a big poster of the Dragons behind the bar, sepia-tinted photographs of proud looking teams on the walls and the old boys pointed to the Lezignan XIII badges on their shirts. We declined their offer of beers and had a coffee. It is mid morning after all.
