Leading by 52 and taking a field goal

This is an interesting sports culture point. In the States, if you're up by 30 in a basketball game and keep raining down threes, that's seen as disrespectful. It's not about stopping play, but more about not showing off (strange contradiction, when you see how many players show off in almost every other situation).

Ad for this one, I'm not a massive fan, but I'm not going to say it's wrong.

You're confusing basketball with football. American Football is the one with the culture of not running up the score. Look at the Golden State Warriors to see how common it is to score big in basketball.

No it is American sports in general, the NBA definitely has this culture. Look at how many 4th quarters Curry didn't play this season, once the game is beyond doubt in basketball they take their foot off the gas and put the bench warmers and usually the other team does as well so the margins don't close much.

I personally think it was unnecessary and if I were a Newcastle player Id be spewing that I dont get a chance to line him up as a result of not playing each other again this year. And I dont believe the argument that the 1 point could decide the finals. The chances of a team having the exact same for and against as another are ridiculously slim and its not like Brisbane are struggling to score points. I dont agree with not trying to score any more because you are up by 40, but with time winding down, 52 points up, just kick the ball out.

Don't think they could exact revenge anyway. They had trouble catching him to start with.

That's more to do with resting as it's an 82 game season. It also gives bench players a chance to get some playing time, but yes, they won't take the last shot if the shot clock is larger than the game clock and they have a good enough lead. Then again, they often won't take a long shot before the end of a quarter either as it may hurt their field goal percentage. Really pathetic. I follow the nba, but their attitude sucks. I've never seen so many zero effort defensive plays in any other sport and so many players appear to be more interested in fashion and their personal legacy than winning basketball games.

Anyway, I'm way of topic. Again, what Milford did was great, whether it was for for and against or to practice field goals from a tap. Both are valid reasons to do what he did.

I frequent a couple NBA forums and if a player like Steph or LBJ or any superstar stays in the game when its a blowout in the fourth they are immediately labelled 'statpadders' by the Americans. At his age Steph doesn't need to be worried about getting an extra 12 minutes of rest, he is a godly athlete at his peak. It is just unsportsman like to Americans for the best players to be out there when the game is already decided. Your example of not taking the last shot is probably a better one but players sitting with big leads is very much a part of that culture.

I don't think the Broncos realise they lost the GF last year and haven't won one since like 2006,there awfully cocky for such a failure of a club

Eels last GF win 2009 > Broncos 2006 GF win

The Milf can do what he wants. He is a deceptively strong but diminutive magician with a fantastic moustache who is a good chance of winning the Dally M this year. All power to him.

Its a bit too early yet to be having the conversation, but if he continues this form until the end of the season, we might know the identity of the next true superstar of the NRL. He has everything and he's 21! The Broncos are very lucky to have him.

Having just watched the replay, I saw that the final penalty was for a grubby forearm facial from Newcastle. That deserved to get salt rubbed into the wound.
