Lebanon and Serbia become full RLEF members

But surely it's not right for Serbia/Lebanon to have the same power/influence as England...

as full members they'd have the same voting rights as england...and rightly so

but its that attitude though, that england, australia & NZ should have more power than everyone else is exactly why nothing ever get done...

we should have a independent RLIF board and when it comes down to voting on things each governing body gets 1 vote...so the maltese RL has exactly the same influence and power as the ARL...for example

Yep, we all want that.

I see I'm outspoken, but I disagree to an extent. Can't really put it into words, but the gist of it is that's where the money etc. is.

how much money does the ARL put into the RLIF?....

i would suggest it's absolutely c**k all so why should "money = power"

Congratulations, you managed to attack a post where all I did was vaguely mention that I disagreed. I also said to an extent.

If you keep firing randomly, you might manage to hit what I'm thinking. You're a fair way off for now...

Come on guys, we all want the same thing.

With these nations getting full membership, they can and should have the same as everyone else, the fact that they've made it this far shows they deserve it.

In years to come, who's to say they won't be putting their own TV rights money into the RLIF/RLEF like others do now to help spread the game?

What I meant was, it's a bit out of proportion if England are representing over 100,000 registered players, compared to 250 registered Serbian players (for example). Their needs to be some middle ground between each nation having a voice and the heavyweights having more power than the minnows. What that middle ground may be I don't know.

But please, lets not kid ourselves and pretend England and Serbia are now suddenly 'equals', they're not.

That's true LP, but in saying that, if the UN ran it like that, India and China would have control. (hehe, they may well do these days).

But you know what I mean.

Numbers are numbers mate, it shouldn't have anything to do with how big or small those numbers are, it should have everything to do with what's best for the game and what's best is new blood because the old blood has failed us massively for too bloody long.

If that's the case then we'll never get away from the current status quo. RL would always be run for the benefit of the same three usual suspects. If you don't want Lebanon and Serbia to have the same voting rights as the rest of the full members of the RLEF then what was the point in giving them full member status in the first place?

wind ya neck in pal...i merely asked you why should money equal power when the richest RL nation does'nt put money in??? at least the RFL have actually been funding the RLEF

and why should england and australia have more power just because they have more players/been playing longer...etc.....its not "their game" its everyones game! thats why a fijian, tongan, welsh, american voice should be heard just as loudly as a australian, kiwi or english voice is

Look guys, I think this entire discussion is a bit pointless, seeing as RLEF as an organisation aren't really a governing body as yet, like UEFA for example, but since we've come this far i'll continue to state my point.

I love what is happening is Serbia and Lebanon and I think Serbia have been THE most successful expansion nation of the last decade, it's amazing what they've done with minimal outside help. Some days I wish I could be there in the flesh to physically help them in some way.

But, you guys are all claiming the "status quo" is such a terrible thing, I disagree. The fact is that without England and Aus there would NO professional rugby league competition in the world right now. The English have brought a French and Welsh team into their domestic competition and are trying to get a second French team in within the decade. The Aussies have the Warriors and a 2nd NZ team and a PNG team are applying for the next expansion phase.

I know they're not perfect, there's no question, but like I say they are the only two pro comps in the world, this is why the game does revolve around them in many ways...

But can't you see that RL revolves around them because that's how they like it? RL is screaming out for more pro/semi pro comps. That's why I'd love some form of pro comp to take off in the USA. The very narrow professional basis we have is just not good for the sport and leads us to the situation we now have whereby two countries basically control all things RL. In fact you could even whittle that down to one contry with the other one being towed along in their wake. I also realise that the fact that RL only has two pro comps isn't solely down to Australia and England. Various RU's around the world have also had something to say on the matter.
