Lol i wouldnt be too sure about that.
I mean, Benji wont be with us next year, neither will cooper, and by all accounts Rein wont be here in 2017 either, and also Lafai apparently too.
Yet all bar Benji are named to play and Benji has apparently been gaurenteed selection next week.
All this when our season is over and we should be planning and blooding new players for 2017.
So Leilua being picked doesnt really answer any questions about his future as far as im concerned.
But like i said, its just a rumour at this stage.
But it does beg the question, why so long to get this deal signed?
Because we have fools running the show. You give the kid what the dogs are offering because that would be his market value. If they need to get rid of someone to keep him then so be it as he like Bird are natural footy players. Dumb people who could not work this out. Sign him now you fools.

If the club does not sign Leilua then we will be worse off than this year.

Sign him then get nene done and at the very least we have something to build on and the fans can have something to look forward to in terms of improvement.

Getting these 2 signings done will give the club some kind of leverage to attract a 7 & 9.

Just get it done dragons!

Agree wholeheartedly . Sign the man to the 3 year contract that he is asking for . The signs are there that he will develop into the same type of player that his brother is . Good ball skills , size and bulk , he will only get better over the years .

As you have said , we need that strong foundation , and then build upon it ,with other players , both young and experienced . The Joint Venture needs to finally realise that if they cannot attract quality players to the Club , then they have no option other than to use the young players that are now there .

To do so they must first sign them . To sit back and think about it , is nothing short of criminal .

I keep saying it but I seriously will lose it if he goes as it is not just the player that he could be but another example of our inept boards inability to retain & recruit. Surely even they can see that if he leaves for presumably less money , it's the coach , so do something about it !!

I like Luc and think he will end up being a great prospect. However i have said that about many of our juniors.

Doubt he will get a 3 year deal. We are competing to keep with with Clubs that have miracle Caps and Tpa's.

Hoping we get him on a shorter deal 1-2 years, and see how he pans out.

There are probably a couple of reasons for the delay one being that if he plays more First Grade his asking price will be higher. Further if he signs elsewhere there will not be as much pressure on him if the season has ended.

Until we sought out this debt that is owed to the NRL , we just won't be a position to offer similar TPA's as most of the other Clubs do . I am not sure , however I believe that the NRL has restricted the Joint Venture on the number of TPA's that we can use , until the debt is repaid - as I said , I am not sure about that .

If that is indeed the case , one must wonder if the Joint Venture is , or will ever be capable of repaying that debt ? Should the answer to that be No , then there is only one other way of doing so , a wealthy benefactor investing in the Clubs future .

That debt is like a giant millstone hanging around our Clubs throat . It will eventually strangle the life out of it .

I don't understand why the NRL would even enter any conversation with a club regarding TPA's. The TPA is an agreement between a third party and a player, nothing to do with the debt of the club???? I would be gobsmacked if the NRL at any stage told a club not to bring more money into the game, it would be a restriction of trade

Gaz, with respect.

We are not the only one with a debt to the NRL, and that should be excluded from any TPA's.

We have a cap / financials, and third party agreements. Whilst the all appear on the P and L, they are different entities.

We are NOT in the ballpark with TPA's. We cant attract " external" parties to prop us up. Has been the case since they were introduced.

Interesting to note the NRL made a statement yesterday to the effect that they will review the TPA arrangements to make them more " transparent".. what that means, God knows, cause at the moment they are a blight on the game.

I have to admit I do not know a lot about TPA's they are indeed an anomaly.

If they are just related to the "player" then why is it not possible for the NRL themselves to say

The following companies want to have Josh Dugan as the face of their products and they are kicking this much into the tin and they create a % formulae that some goes to the player, some goes to the club, some goes to Jnr development, some goes to the NRL etc etc?
I suggest that the Player Manager is the sticking point in this scenario.

If TPA's are related to the club in the first instance because the sponsor likes the brand and just need a player from within that club to be the face they can do a similar style thing with a different formulae.

I suspect the biggest issue and all the skull duggery comes about when the company willing to pay the TPA says I want this player but at that club because of the brand. IMO that needs to be kept away from the player managers and declared openly to all and sundry.

If the NRL think that is acceptable for the good of the code then it should then allow other clubs an increase in salary cap as an offset.

As I said I don't know a lot about them but transparency and offset / compensation would no doubt help even the playing field.

Thank You Gentlemen , S.H. ,Leth. 25 , Tr. Saint and O.T. As I said I was not sure about that , however I did read somewhere that from next year on there is some type of restriction being placed upon the Club , as a direct result of the outstanding debt .
Just what that is I am not sure , as I myself thought that it was most unfair . If the loan was being repaid , I hope it is , then why would you penalised the Club for doing the right thing ? Once again I must had misunderstood what had been said .
