Thats very disappointing
Luciano Leilua to Join Bulldogs
Luciano Leilua the younger brother of Joey Leilua is set to sign with the Bulldogs for the 2017 season.
He is arguably the most dominant player in the NYC competition this season and the wrecking ball second-rower is now un-leashed in the NRL for the Dragons.
Leilua, the brother of Raiders star Joey, has been compared to hulking Cowboys forward Jason Taumalolo but it’s not just a strong carry of the ball he possesses.
The 20-year-old has amazing footwork, is skilful passer and can unleash one devastating fend.
Why the Dragons have not signed him up long-term is breath taking. Now it is believed that the Bulldogs and Des Hasler have swooped and stolen the young gun on a 3-year-deal starting from the 2017 season.
Bloody Bulldogs, surely they can breed their own.
I find losing Leilua very disappointing. Really what's the point of looking around for good players to buy when you can't see the ones already under your nose.
It's simple:
Losing Leilua = no appreciate high performing young players = inadequate respect for the National Youth Comp.

If it were my call, the only way forward from here in the recruitment area, is to only sign up players from the lower grades. Otherwise the premise that defines 'local juniors' becomes undermined.
We only need 2-3 promoted every year. Surely the St.George & Illawarra areas can produce 2 class players every year. They're all dreaming of it, and busting their guts to make it. They deserve acknowledgement from their affiliated NRL team. Reward.
The fact that they are making a big play for foran as u claim to have heard makes all the more sence that they will sign Leilua.Rubbish ... he hasnt signed with anyone spoke to the doggies trainer today and he said they expressed interest thats all but he will be staying at st. George as they are making a big play for foran. So they are actually looking to offload some of their own
Not sure these numbers are correct. Lloyd Perrett is supposedly on close to double the 150k. Also, Eastwood is going nowhereThe fact that they are making a big play for foran as u claim to have heard makes all the more sence that they will sign Leilua.
Foran will cost big BIG dollars, they can release a 600k-700k forward and sign Leilua for 150k...
Extra half a million from that, on top of perrett (both sam and Lloyd), plus Rona, plus Eastwood, and all of a sudden theres the money for Foran.
Sam perrett and Rona are already covered, young Holland is a cheapie and they just signed that young winger from the raiders something Lee... another cheapie.
Williams is 600k, Sam perrett is around 250k, Lloyd perrett 150k, Rona around the 200-250k mark, Eastwood around the 500k mark.
Thats around 1.7 million.
All they sign is young Lee for about 100k and Leilua for 150k and they still got 1.4 million for Foran.
If he is definitely gone and the club has known that fact for some time I can't understand why they are playing him in First Grade. I'd rather we concentrate on giving a go to those who want to remain at the Dragons long term.
