Lent 2014

I know most of you aren't religious (I'm not particularly religious either), but I do like the idea of Lent and of giving something up, if only as a means to kick start a better habit or inspire you to quit something.

Are any of you participating this year?

I've decided to give up delivery (food). That's a big one given how miserable the weather is here and how much I hate eating alone.

I'm hoping it will either inspire me to cook more, or to be more social.

Any of you giving something up?

My mother is a practising Catholic so just for her sake I don't eat meat or drink alcohol on Good Friday every year.
She wanted me to not eat meat on Ash Wednesday (tomorrow) but told her that wasn't happening.

When I remember it's Good Friday, I don't eat meat. Might be tough in China though.

I'm not strictly religious myself, but my mum is a believer - as is my dad and step-mum. While under their house, I respect their rules. No meat on the key dates and such. I'll give up 2-3 things, not from the religious point - but I think more on the self-sacrifice sense and giving up something important to me that's a privilege to have, as opposed to a necessity.
