Des Hasler has taken his team from 13th to 8th in one season with some pretty ordinary players to work with (ie. Donald, Witt etc) - Brian Smith has bought every high priced player under the sun no matter their ability (Cannings, Dykes anyone?) and choked continuosly throughout the 90's with the Drags and now with the Eels.

Brent Kite? Ben Kennedy? Matt Orford? Michael Monaghan? Steve Bell? No high priced players among that lot :roll:.

In all honesty, Manly should be very concerned with their depth in the halves and outside backs next season. Injuries will kill them ... that and the fact that they've got the worst front rowers in the competition. Leuluai is the only one I have any respect for but he's suspended half the year anyway.
