Lets rid ourselves of the misfits

When I look at Matt Peterson and then see him in my team I cringe. Selections like him personify everything that is Brian Smith. For me the following players would NEVER play again for the EELS.

1. Peterson (His jumping for those cross field bombs are a joke, how I hate this player)
2. Mckinnon (Give me a break, offers nothing)
3. Kativerata (No Brian he is not the new Lote)
4. Wagon (Yes he can tackle, but offers nothing in attack)
5. Langi (One good game, 2 shockers)


I really believe that Dykes has been very poor for the past 2 weeks. I will give him the benefit of the doubt, however I still think he is a little bit of an uncoordinated hog who gets tackled with the ball too much.

Finally get rid of the coach its his responsibility to get the players focused on the game, they wern't up for it today and they haven't been for a while.

McKinnon did OK tonight, played a safe game.

Peterson suffered under the high ball, but did some OK defence, eg the tackle on Williams latein the game.

Langi, while uneventful, tried hard. The merry go round that has been the right centre position has prevented any understanding developing between 2 and 3.

Burt was poor.

Grothe was woeful in the first half, nice take ofthe Dykes kick, though.

Wagon. 1 decent tackle, 79 minutes of mindnumbingly boring football.

Dykes. Worked well when the team fired up in the second half. If this bloke gets injured, we are absolutely ratshit!

Tsoulos. Great game for a youngster.

Thorman. Hooker? Tried hard, but there is nothing happening there. Is Wagon that cemented at 5/8 that our big pivot purchase has to play in the forwards????

Armit. Tried hard and had a mistake free game.

Hindy, as usual, was awesome. This team is not worthy of him. 43 tackles, 15 hitups

Cayless. A bonehead. Having a stupid running argument with the ref, and a sick tackle on Hannay. He'll be gone for 4. A poor captain's knock

Widders. Average

Morris. Why on the bench? Was excellent when came on.

Muspratt. Uneventful

Peek. See above

Stapelton, tried hard, copped the sin bin because of il disciplin by others.

Overall, a shit first half, and yet another crap display that only HJ and Strider will be rapt in.

I agree misty with everything u have said. We have some very average players in our side such as Burt and Wagon that Brian Smith persists with all the time. They are not of 1st grade standard they are only average and will never win premierships in their lives because they dont have what it takes.

What irks me the most is when the lovey dovey fans come on and say Burty this and Burty that, he might be good bloke and all and is great with the fans but he is a shit player. We need to get rid of the crap and not resigning them to long contracts.

I agree with most, but:

McKinnon: Nothing wrong; very safe and solid, but offered 0 in attack


Petersen: his best game. Defended well and tried very hard. If nothing else, on effort and passion alone he deserves a 10/10.


Langi: quiet, but solid.


Burt: woeful. He needs to be at fullback; he looked 10 * as dangerous there and is not a centre


Grothe: awful first half; brilliant second half; sign of a great player when he can pull something out of nothing to isnpire his team


Wagon: like always


Dykes: I get the feeling that he tries too hard because nobody helps him out; our problem is different to last year's; we go forward with our forwards but have no extra playmaker and he needs another one


Peek: solid


Thorman: used wrong; should have come off the bench; not bad, but not great


Stapleton: typical game of his; plenty of work and aggression; I like him


Hindy: 'nuff said


Caylo: disappointing; he was very frustrated by the often questionable decisions of the ref, and it showed


Widders: added some spark; HE IS A BENCH PLAYER BRIAN


Morris: awesome; made a few errors but brilliant


Armit: brilliant; strong and aggro


Tsoulos: see Armit


Muspratt: OK; nothing brilliant

We we f**ked tonight - that first half was worse than our first half against Canterbury - at least the bulldogs had some talent and played great - the cowboys are nothing special and we put on the most heartless, uninterested display of shit footy I have ever seen.

Do we blame Brian for it?....maybe he needs to shoulder alot of blame - I have no f**king clue why Morris started on the bench or why Thorman was never seen again after he was our only half decent player in the first 30 mins.....someone obviously stuck it up the guys at half time tho - was a different team in the second half....but its FAR from acceptable - it was a f**king disgrace!
