Its a forum mate - opinion is what makes the place.

Sorry DanOz- I meant that yes, we can offer opinion eg I've often said I'd like to test the field and see who is out there (I've even speculated that in testing the field Sheens may still be the best option)- I'd like to see if someone totally new might be a good option rather than a retread.

I was commenting more on the impression I got that Brownie was saying we could not ask for Teflons replacement without providing with who. I just dont think we can- especially if we dont know who is interested- people here can say Lang / Johns or whoever but it seems a bit pointless unless the people named have publicly said they are available. Brownie- my apologies I've I got the wrong impression from your post.

The first decision the board makes is do we seek to retain Sheens or not and make an offer. Sheens might not want to stay on. Second is who else is out there.

There is no way we can here in this forum come up with the options and decisions for the WT board- we are not the head hunters, do not know who is available and for what price. Surely you can only expect us to comment if and when a list of coach options the club is looking at is published. Common be fair...................
I agree wholeheartedly. All this nonsense about having to name a solid replacement is just rubbish. There have been plenty of names thrown around, and there always will be. But at the end of the day, decisions like that are why board members get their names on the letterhead. It will be their decision to make. We might be able to rustle up some public interest in a closer look at the benefits of keeping or punting King Tim by obsessively bleating about it on a public forum, but there's no way "Joe Public" or even card carrying club members will ever get a look in when it comes to naming a successor. Take your silly delusions elsewhere, Brownie...

He was signed for 240k and very good buy but who would you sign as coach ?? Tim is the best for us ... and Nathan Brown was a golden child at Saints and won Zip and Steve won once at the dogs in was it 11 years ??

How many finals campaigns did each of those coaches preside over for their clubs?

Premierships are great, we can all agree on that, but seeing your team run around in September on a regular basis must be nice as well. I wouldn't know...

Sheens has overstayed his welcome at the Tigers. He's gone stale as have his ideas. If it wasnt for the increasing pressure directed at him from fans and the media this year, we would still have Morris in the halves and Gallant in Premier league.

He's a joke of a coach who cant admit his mistakes.

Geez, we win 4 games in a row for the first time since 2007 and all of a sudden Sheens is yet again the greatest thing since sliced bread.

FMD, we haven't even made the finals yet people, so please spare me the "supercoach" tag. A supercoach would not miss out on the finals three or four years in a row.

I'm am not under the illusion that anyone who matters will be influenced by anything I or anyone else says on this forum - I just like talking Tigers.

My comments weren't directed at you Dan... I think you're on safe ground when you say "opinion is what makes the place". I don't read you as saying you can't have an opinion on A unless you've also got an opinion on B.

the thing im kinda getting at is calls for sheens head have been getting louder and louder to the point there a full on roar from tigers fans, i agree if there is someone out there who can get the job done lets get them on board......but i cant think of anyone. i wanted to hear some names, sure we dont know finacial situation or whatever but surely since this has been going on now for a while surely some thought has gone into who can replace him. Feel free to just repeat yourselves in the continuous call for his head im not gonna go cry about it and it wasnt meant to come across like that. it was more a plea to take it to the next level, if his gonna go who do u think can replace him. im scared of going backwards with an untested coach but hey if we miss the finals again perhaps the bullet should be bitten, then again sheens is the aussie coach now perhaps we will be able to nab a prop eyeing off an aussie test jumper, i dont know.
not trying to stiffle your opinions just we are starting to repeat ourselves

There are always at least half a dozen names floating around. To mention them every time you criticise Sheens would only be repeating yourself once too often.

Interestingly, many of those names are currently being bandied about in the press under headlines about Brian Smith and the Knights...

It's not like there is an unlimited pool of candidates to choose from. That said, I'm not too concerned about who will be "better" than Sheens. I'm just wondering how and when we will get someone different from Sheens.

i dont and never have expected anything i or any "joe public" says to influence board decisions thats ludicrous, but when i talk to my mates over a beer about the subject it always comes back to them saying to me "but who would u get as a replacement" the names been mentioned ala newcastle have been mentioned in the media and i havent really heard any that made me go wow i wish he was our coach.
it was a plea not a demand and im sorry if it made anybody angry, i dont post often because i dont like getting into heated discusions, but thats just me, and there are so many different views from tigers fan that its almost imposible not to state your opinion and irk someone, its sometimes hard to believe we are all watching the same team.
please feel free to vent your frustrations at sheens its not like i can do anything about it even if i wanted too which wasnt my point.
yes some names ive heard mentioned on here johns/lang/smith/i think someone else but i cant think who and nathan brown (surely a joke lol).
anyway as i said vent away forget naming possible replacements, it doesnt matter anyway.

Don't be too harsh on Nathan Brown. The guy was fresh out of the pack into coaching and made more than one semi series. Sure, he had a very talented side to work with but there but with that talent came massive egos. Plus, he had played with most of the blokes he was coaching.

He's going well with Huddersfield at the moment.

Fair enough Brownie. Maybe a better way to progress forum discussion is what are the positives & negatives of possible coaches out there eg Lang / Johns / Brown / Folkes / Hagan / Kearney etc. What is their record? The only thing I know is that I dont want Simmons as Sheens heir apparent.

fair call i guess its just i live on the south coast so most of my mates are dragons fans and when u hear constant bagging of the guy its gonna leave an impression.
but your point is very valid, would maybe like to see how he went after another year over there perhaps.
daniel anderson has impressed me of late due to his willingness to admitt to mistakes and completely rework what he had been planning all offseason when he realised it wasnt working. however im guessing he would have at least a couple more years at parra.
i know we need a new coach in the the next couple of years but to be honest the thought scares me more then excites me.
folkes well he was always a guy who worked game planes using big fowards and i dont know if that would suit us.
i have never been a fan of michael hagan i would not like him at the club i dont think.
Mr simmons can go with sheens as a defensive coach he has failed.
john lang i would be ok with whilst not over the moon, he could maybe work, he seemed to promote a good quality attacking game whilst keeping a reasonable defensive record if i remember correctly although i could be wrong.
dont really know much about kearney.
either matt or andrew johns i would like to see as an assitant coach for a while and i dont just mean assisting the halfs and kickers.
i would like to poach neil henry he did some good things with canberra even with his main playmaker making things difficult for him.
i guess we should maybe just take a gamble especially if we miss the 8 again this year and definatly if we lose to the roosters and sharks, if we lose both those games it just tells me we have learnt nothing as a side over the past 3yrs.
I just wanna see my team in september, i was born in 84 and followed balmain was to young to remember any of the late 80's early 90's so 05 is the only time i have seen my team play finals footy, with such an even competition these days, thats a joke.

If I could have anyone who is currently - it would be Kearney - yeah - hes still learning, but it would probably ensure that Benji stays when super coach leaves.

I dont want either of the Johns boys or the cultures they represent at the Tigers. The Terry Lamb days were enough for me, Hopa's arse poking, McGuinness & Field drug taking etc

I don't mind Shames coaching...as long as he doesn't have any say in the team selection or squads. Just have him coach the players that he is given. Easier said than done.
