Ah you've been brainwashed!

'To be fair' would involve all clubs getting equal fta coverage. Until that happens it's not even close to a level playing field and will never become one. As Noyce mentioned the gap just gets bigger.

If you're a company looking to sponsor an NRL team, which one is more attractive... A team getting15 Friday night football games or 3 total fta games? And which club will be able to demand higher coin for their sponsorship? And which club will spawn more adoring child fans (because they're on prime time tv the same time each week)? And which club will sell more merchandise? And which club will fill their stadium more, and sell more good and beverage at the game? Need I go on?

It is a big enough issue for our clubs CEO to state as such in an open letter to fans. And I agree it's a massive inequality issue that needs to be addressed ASAP. So many people, who post on here, have remarked how the football just isn't the same anymore, or that they haven't 'gotten into it' as much. Maybe seeing a few other teams on fta tv might pique people's interest again...

End rant.

Not brainwashed but appreciate your point of view.

We are a minnow in the game compared to some clubs & are getting the same grant from the NRL as are the Broncos, Rabbits etc.

Until we lift our game off the field, we should be grateful that other clubs are propping us up.

Agree with the rich get richer, poor get poorer scenario though. Get our act together & we could be on the richer side of the scales.

As the saying goes winning starts on Monday. We win many more games, and play an enterprising entertaining brand of football ,we crack FTA more often and sponsors see value.

Remember the ET /McGaw days ,the club had a much higher profile in the market place.
The Ando ,Stuart eras and the offield loons, dragged it all down.Playing a sh*tty brand of football, and letting players go like Peachey snr who brought fans through the gate.

Keep playing like we have for the last fortnight, and the sky is the limit.Get personality players who can play like Nu and Holmes down the line, and we can market the balls out the club.
This year FTA is sh*tsville for us.

The FTA issue is more complex than giving everyone an even share. The size of the TV deals means 9 will choose whoever will give them the best ratings return. That means us, the Raiders and Storm etc are not given FTA slots and the Broncos have a mortgage on Friday night.

The game sold itself to TV and that's the result. Want the money then accept that TV calls the shots.

The other element is that we have not been seen as a strong club for over 10 years. We have also tended to play a negative, grinding brand of football. The club needs to work at making itself an attractive proposition before we can expect decent treatment. The past couple of weeks have seen the players actually use their skills and we have been good to watch. Even in the first half of the Brisbane game their was a decent vibe on here because they were moving the ball and having a go. No one wants to watch 5 hitups and kick footy.

It would be great if the club appointed a coaching director who established the style of footy the club stands for that actually involved using skill and speed. This would allow to hire coaches who got the philosophy and didn't see the need to change everything every few years.

I notice in the last part of the letter from Steve Noyce that the club is advertising for the position of NRL Physical Performance Manager. Applications close on the 1st of August. Does anyone have any information on who might have applied? If we want to play fast, open, enterprising footy, then we need a team that is fit enough to play that way. Whoever the successful applicant is could be the key to our on field performances in a similar way that Paul Watson and Peter Hadfield played a key role in the fast, open style of play that was a feature of the John Lang era.
