Are there really some hidden talents in that Newtown PL side and in Jersey Flegg ?

There are, but they're not even getting blooded in a time when we need them most

blokes like goodwin and lovie have been carving for a couple of years now but can barely get a crack in 1st division, let alone 1sts. I think selfishness is a key factor ....the club would rather win a pizzy jersey flegg trophy, than blood them with some invaluable nrl/jets experience .......look at selmes ...he's f**king massive, but will remain a pudgy soft c0ck due to lack of hard nosed experience

players dont become 1st graders over night ...well some do ....but its f**king rare .....they need to be eased in .........we should be doing that this year, but unfortunately their positions are being held by under achieving coaches pets

Well said Cheese
I agree with your comments and feel that same way. After 35 years of supporting the club you start to wonder why you bother. Especially in regard to the clubs recruitment and retention policy. IMO this is the sole reason why we have not won a comp in the last 15 years and will not continue to do so. Not bad luck or bad play just a simple case of not bing good enough and not being prepared to sign the players to achieve that.

Unlike yourself I have felt a sense of excitement this year and a feelimg that we were building towards something big if a couple more quality players could be added. Now, unless some major signings are confirmed all that rebuilding is lost because there is no way (as much as we wish) that the current squad going forward is a grandfinal contending one, for fugs sake its so frustrating.

As for the game plan. Yeah we are all sideline experts but like you point out a few things just arnt right and are bleeding obvious i.e.

* Raper not prepared to sack a player in average form even when the team is winning e.g. Covell and Sullivan. We have a premier league team coming first yet certain players cant get a go. Would Wayne Bennet, Steve Folks or Ricky Stuart do the same thing. No they wouldnt. Thats why they are the top coaches.

* The game plan. I ll give you a good example. How bloody predicatible is the Kirmorley cross field bomb to a winger on the last tackle attacking the oppositions tryline. Is there something wrong with getting a repeat set.

Its mediocracy at its best and its not good enough.

You can always write to the club Cheese. Thats what I plan to do once the silly season is over. I know the clubs reads the letters and emails. I ve had a couple of replies from Steve Rogers and even a phone call from Greg Pierce in times gone by.

Remember we the fans are any clubs biggest asset.

I feel better now.

I like the look of Selmes, from what I've seen of him.

I know what you mean Cheese, about clubs going for the lower grades trophy, but this usually happens when the 1st grade has stuffed up and have no chance and then clubs stack their lower grades so that the players qualify for the semis.

The club should put out something about what their plans are for 2006, surely they would know the fans would be concerned with all these departures.

Good post Cheese. Living with the passionate Sharks supporter that I do I have endured these comments for years. It's good to see that he is not the only one that feels that way.

What is the problem with the board? They don't appear to want to sign any players. There is never even anyone rumoured to be going to the Sharks, if they are it is PL players.I know they can be nurtured and step up but who is going to be left to nurture them. The board!!!!!!!!

Not sure what the current status with him is, but I'd have Peter Gow back in a minute over this mob of no hopers!

I think those dicks at the club need to come out and tell all the supporters what the f**k is going with our club. I'd like to know if there was any light at the end of the tunnel.

You guys should all go neck yourself now, fair dinkum I've never seen more moaning in my life.

We didn't get Willie, We didn't get King, they stayed with their clubs.

Galloway goes to tigers, big deal, thats the way it goes. He's a bench player who has shown some good form in two games, coincedently around contract time.

Many of you have bemoaned the lack of opportunity given our younger players by the coaching staff, well guess what, now they are going to get it. If they are as good as many of you have been saying then we don't really have a problem do we.

I love sludge as much as any heterosexual man, but to be honest he's not much more than a puppet.

Emails are fruitless ....ive sent the poor bastard a tonne over the years. I appreciate the fact he replys, but meh, it can be a bit of a cliche'athon at times. The great man can only do as much as the puppet masters allow.

ever seen that movie THE CLUB- about collingwood I think and it had a bit to do with the board and board members- maybe we should send a copy to our board with a note saying "your next"

We've f**ked up majorly this year. As June 30 was approaching you could see the market was shrinking, yet we decided to go in there more decent off contract players than most clubs. We even left the signing of Williams and to a lesser extent Simmo to the last minute. We've got burned!

Are we going to start next season 1 million under the sallary cap? Where's the Stevo / Peach / Sully / Lomu / McGoldy money going to bsiedes for a couple of minor upgrades. Unless we get Ben Ross, I think we are no hope of filling the cap. What's the point of turning up? We'll be giving the other teams a head start.
