Roosters have a talented bunch but NONE they've brought through themselves i.e. Albert Hoppa.... They throw massive $ at jnrs 5X (seriously) what we can afford.. They can do this because the jnrs salary doesn't count to the cap till they play a first grade game.. They have jnrs running round earning 150 000..... The cap has helped even things out... However it only addresses the top 25 players... Don't think that we're all on level playing field cause we sure as hell aren't. This quote was from a senior Tigers official "the Roosters spend more on their jnrs than we do on our top 25"... I used the Roosters as an example but there's about 4 other clubs that are if not as bad, close to it. The NRL is a reactionary organisation they don't make change they wait till it's forced upon them. This is a blatant flaw in the cap the NRL should cap payments to jnrs i.e. "no jnr can be paid over $?" and ad to that: Any club that has a player enter it's top 25 will get a 20% salary cap deduction on his salary as long as he has been with the club or one of it's feeders for 3 years"..

I would start by leaving MON out.Sentiments aside he lacks the class of younger players eg.......Halatau whos hard running and committment in defence is definately better suited in the second-row,Laffranchi who is a little small for a prop, but his ability can`t be questioned,Chris Heighnington who is simply better in all aspects than MON,Liam Fulton who is surely now a must for the 1st 17,Jeff Lima who is much more damaging than MON and also Isaac De Gois who has better ball skills and hits harder than MON!
I think that you have missed the fact that a players worth is not just the tackles he makes, the hit up etc. Mark is a steadying influence (although his work is at worst adequate every week).
If you had another youngster out there rather than Mark when we were hanging on, you may have seen a rash decision. It's not just his actions but what he's saying to the players around him.
Mark has been the rock of our side for the last two years and I'm not just talking performance I'm talking elder statesman or if you like "the one that steadys the ship".. There is no doubt that there is jnrs with more talent than him coming through however remove him, replace him with one of them no matter how talented, at your peril. What Mark, Darren and Sats are passing on to the young guys right now is invaluable... Long term plan folks...

I do agree with what your saying, but I really do believe the youngsters are ready! No denying MON has been a rock and I actually thaught last was just about his best game of the season, however I think his job for the Tigers is just about complete!

"just about" operative words....

Yep....you only gotta look at Benji the last two games......a pretty big mistake in both games leads to opposition trys.....now im not about to crucify him for it...its expected as hes still inexperienced, as are all the other youngsters....when the pressures applied they can and most often do opt for the wrong option....the old hands need to be there, to keep A lid on things etc.
