No arguments from me!!....totally agree.

Just say Lockyer is a beautifull Maclaren F1 car..Well Graham Langlands is a pogo stick!

Lockeyer the best? Yeah? Why?

I can't forget that Minichello and Bailey treated him like a speed bump in Origin this year. For me, he's good, but not quite an immortal. Changa is still No. 1

He's the best full back running round in league at the moment, that's for sure. Has the brains to play 5/8 if he needed to (and with someone like Crocker as Kangaroo 5/8, Lockyer's brains were very much needed in the attacking play this morning).

Churchill wasn't named as one of the original four Immortals for nothing. Langlands deserved to be there in the first place but did make it a few years ago.

Lockyer, IMO is the best footballer in the world at the moment - despite a poor Origin series and at the Broncos where he was pretty much relied upon as the sole playmaker he has always been the one to watch. He would easily rate ahead of Jack, Belcher and possibly just shade Keith Barnes - but only just.

However that being said if I was picking a team tomorrow and I could choose anyone from the past or the present I'd be slipping one C.Churchill in as fullback and captain.

1. Joey and Lockyer are not the best footballers in the world; Joey is the best HALFBACK and Lockyer the best FULLBACK in the world.

2. In my opinion I don't know whether he is the best ever. I mean, in Origin he was just awful (for the most part). SOmeone with true class shines even under immense pressure (for example: Jonny "I'm so dumb I think I'm playing golf when I'm kicking a goal" Wilkinson missed two drop goals from a good range against the WAllabies; if he is THAT DAMN good he should of kicked at least one under pressure).

In my opinion, Lockyer is VERY good. But I am not 100% sure he is the best ever. And plus he isn't getting any younger, and that seems to be making him more average. Two or three years ago he was twice the player he is now.

brett mullins at his peak was much better than lockyer ever has been

but in all fairness to lockyer, he's been more consistent over time

it's just a shame that Fitzgerald turned down the chance to sign him when he was 16. Fitzi said he wouldn't make it.

Great judgement

I am sure most people on this site are not old enough to have watched Clive Churchill play?! I mean i am pretty sure he finished up in about 1961, 42 years ago, and as there is very little footage, only people who are about 60 plus could really make any sort or acurate comparison between Lock and he.

So in my opinion Lockyer is the best fullback i have ever seen (100 times the player Brett Mullins ever was!) and marginally better than Scotty Mahon ;-)

I saw him play, as well as Keith Barnes and Ken Thornett, and IMO Ken Thornett was better than any of them, including Lockyer.

Interesting twizzle. But did you see churchill in his prime, or when he was past his best?

He was probably past his prime when I saw him play.

Well your cool meter just went up a few nothces. Let's see Lockyer score a 100 metre try.

I don't think that Mullin's defrence was as good as Lockyer's defence is now. That is somehting that he has really worked on.

Mullins was a very good attacking fullback, one of the best.

For mine, the best 100 metre try that I ever saw was from the Guru, from the kickoff...........he beat something like 10 or 12 players, some more than once, he just ran straight over the top of them.

He did not have the dynamic side step that Mullins had, then again, he didn't need it.

I think the only saine person who has the right to suggest that Brett Mullins was a better footballer than Darren Lockyer, is Brett Mullins mother!
