Hang on. I haven't seen this "new" footage. Can someone who has seen it please advise - does the footage clearly show Darren Lockyer engaging in this "semi-tackle" on the bar employee?

I am really talking about teh Bronc's hard line approach to drinking and poor public behviour. They have been very tough in the past and I find it disapponting this hard line appears, at least on the surface, to have given way to the importance of the finals series, simply because of the talent involved. Don't misunderstand where I am coming from here either. I like the Broncs, certainly above the Storm, but the perception of a selective tough stance depending on who it is and what games are before the team, would seem to detract from the standards the club has worked hard to build and exist by. They have been applauded for their stance in the past and rightfully so. I just find this very disappointing

The new footage clearly shows Lockyer enter the bar area and the attire he is wearing appears to fit the phantom tackler. thats just my view of it. But seriously, I know others want to make more of the tackle part, but its nothing really. Horse arsing around. The footage clearly shows a player is so pissed he is stumbling. Bloody footballers in general are acting like drunkard farktards and dragging this game down. Wake up guys from ALL clubs, the media will have a field day on your arse!

Darren chose to state he was not the tackler in the bar incident. He thought he was sweet because of the fuzzy video we all saw. This morning the ABC reports that new footage reveals that indeed it WAS Darren and he will have to live with the lie. I'm expecting the Queensland Police/Sports Minister to offer some excuse.

A nothing story.....but keep assisting in dragging our game through it...

Normally I'd be disgusted and get on my high horse, jail time etc etc, but there was nothing in it. I fear for that bar tonight though. Especially if the Broncos lose.

Nobody suggests the guy was hurt. We are talking about a player( who has had my respect ) resorting to telling lies.

Here are your liars.

"WHAT REALLY HAPPENED"

.................For legal reasons, Ms Milligan cannot speak in detail about what happened on the morning of August 24................

The bar owner didn't lay assault charges, therefore it's a nothing story.

However......

I haven't seen this new footage, but if it is Lockyer then he should have known better. Given the media spotlight on player behaviour, and seeing how Tim Smith, Benji Marshall, SBW's piss on the wall etc was handled, Lockyer and the club have been absolutely stupid to tread this path.

The game continues to get a huge black eye because some players forget how to behave in public. Some young 21 year old struggling with fame and fortune one can understand. Yet a player of Heather's stature? Pathetic.

IF it is him, he should be stripped of his test captaincy. And the club, and Bennet, should wear the tide of public disgust. Gallop and the NRL backed strong action against SBW, Bird and Carney, and Canterbury during the salary cap scandal. They need to show the same balls against Lockyer and Brisbane.

And if it isn't him, then the NRL and a club need to take action to put this to bed ASAP.

We can blame the media all we like. The media has, after all, made sensationalist and damaging headlines over Broncogate, when the real crime is little more than setting a bad example in behaviour and getting on the piss big time when they, as sportsmen, should have been preparing for a big game.

Yet the media's behaviour is part of the landscape. Give 'em nothing, and they get nothing. Players like Menzies, Wiki, Bedsy, Widders, Civo, Price, Hindy, Bowen, Smith, Kimmorley, Geyer etc etc have lived through long and public careers without giving the media any fodder. How hard is it to act normal anyway? If they can do it, why can't the rest?

And players like Gasnier, Mason, Johns, SBW, Hayne, Sailor, Tim Smith, Marshall have all worn the wrath of the media for minor indiscretions. If it is Lockyer, he must be totally stupid to have supplied the media with another opportunity to run with sensationalism. As must his club. Manly apparently supervise their players party activities - from what I've heard they only allow the to go to certain 'safe' venues, and have minders to guide the young ones from potential incidents.

Utterly stupid behavior from players of a club who are the first to put the boot in when this happens elsewhere.

It is a nothing story.

Then again, having the Australian Captain getting that pissed in public, that he doesn't realise he is roughing up someone talks volumes.

Just underlines alot of what I have heard about the guy.
