Now, they’re saying in the SMH that he might be picked this weekend. Of course, he should be picked and his manager has every right to blow up. But picking him hours after those e-mails were released would be the final nail. I respect Flanagan’s right to pick the team, as I have the right to call his selections lunacy. If this is true, he looks like a lunatic lacking in conviction.

There was talk of what was required of him after he left out of the squad for Las Vegas.

That has progressed to requesting a release. As he smashed it last week, it seems that done exactly what was asked of him.

I don't think he's asking to start and there's been no evidence with the players picked on the bench that are screaming to be picked ahead of him.

Probably just media making a story of it because he's on the extended squad, but hope he gets a run

Whole episode is an absolute shambles...Flanaghan comes out looking as weak as piss for backflipping. The kid should have been given a crack instead of Lawrie and Kerr...but it know appears the club has been blackmailed into backflippng. I saw Flanaghan quoted as saying I have a plan for him...maybe he should have explained that to the kid and his management because the manager has stated no one has spoken to LPT to give him any incentive...who do you believe. The upshot is that LPT will eventually leave, either in a few ewwks, months or at the end of season as the damage has been done...another junior lost due to a lack of pathways.

Not saying this is necessarily a "like for like" comparison but it can give you an idea. In 2016, Peter O'Sullivan, who was the Roosters recruitment manager at the time, got this kid playing under 20s for the Broncos to sign with the Roosters for 2017. At the time he'd played for the Qld under 20s team but wasn't considered a big name.

In 2017, turing 21 that year he made his first grade debut in Round 12 that year. He only played a few first grade games and played in the NSW Cup Grand Final for Wyong against Newtown.

2018, he played 8 games in first grade, many off the bench. He wasn't in the GF squad.

2019, he played in 14 games in first grade, again moistly off the bench. He again didn't make the first grade squad.

2020, he became a regular first grader playing 19 games that year. He also became a Qld Origin player that year. Since then, he's been a regular first grader and Qld Origin player.

The player? None other than Lindsay Collins.

Now O'Sullivan identified him, but selection and his development? That was on the coaching staff.

Same applies in this case with LPT. He may have the raw talent, but the Dragons coaching staff need to help him develop that.

Yep, the whole point is that it shouldn't take a young kid requesting an early release to finally get a go.

It looks like unfortunately LPT doesn't have that patience and wants NRL game time sooner

That's probably why there not rushing him and want to give him more time, and Loko obviously can't wait and thinks he's ready now.
But why not give him some minutes off the bench this year.
So send him on and see if he gets ‘buckled’ then. Don’t just sit him down in the dark and wait for him to ‘grow into his body’ (or whatever other platitude they choose to use on this occassion.

If he gets ‘buckled’ then talk to him about it. Shit almighty, it’s not that difficult is it?

He has to sit and watch other ‘seasoned’ forwards blobbing around like drunk muppets week after week.

But it's the development that seems to be the issue and has been for some time. Under Hook, players like George Burgess and Jack Gosiewski said they never got any feedback from the coach as to what they should work on. Now the same complaints have been made of Flanno by Ilias and LPT. It's as though the coach puts a wall around the first grade squad and takes no notice of any players outside that.

He was always going to be picked this week, as was Kerr. They both killed in cup last week. I've said it before on this forum, the issue with Loko is he's difficult to coach because of his own high opinion of himself. Like a lot of young people these days, hard to teach because they already know it all.

The SMH has reported before Loko's release that the Eels were looking for players. Next minute, LPT requests a release. Lomax all over again. They denied Lomax to join the Storm, I would hope Saints do the same. If Saints do let him go only for a replacement halfback which is what they need.

Parra's backup halfback is Ronald Volkman. Do we really want to go there again?

Didn't he play 10 games of the bench last year if so what's happened.

They used to say that about us, too.
