The fact remains that the 08 UCL final and one Clasico in early 2012 aside, he's gone missing in all big stage matches.

He was nowhere near as bad as people make out in 2010, was playing in a side that was strategically deficient and devoid of any decent midfielders or defenders.
His form for the national team the last 2 years or so has been impeccable
