London-Castleford Match Summary

London 10 Castleford 12

Attendance: 25??

Highlights
-We won!
-Not one Castleford player stood out as being poor. Even Greenhill played well.
-The atmosphere was great amongst the Cas fans. There weren't many of us there, but we gave it our all.
-A Londoner called Martin (or was it Mark?) bought myself and my three friends a pint each. He wasn't even a rugby league fan and wasn't going to the game, but still shelled out in excess of £10 (London prices).
-I'll probably get some stick for this, but after last seasons home game against Wigan, Waine Pryce recieved a lot of criticism. People were saying 'he's rubbish under the high ball.'' Well, those who went on Friday night will have seen him put in a great performance under the high ball.
-The London fans-They weren't sore losers, and one even swapped shirts with my friend. After the match a lot of them were saying it would be better for us(Castleford) to stay up than them. London are now officially my third favourite team, after Castleford and York.
-I managed to get a piece of Wembley stone. Well, it was a stone that I found near the construction site, so I put two and two together...

Lowlights
-The last 20 minutes. It was agony, knowing we were so close to a win. Especially when Moran got the ball a few minutes from the end-I had visions of him throwing a dummy and running the length of the field. Luckily, it didn't happen.
-Why was our first half try disallowed? From what I can remember, Paul Mellor palmed it back to Tom Saxton, who touched down. Now, either Paul Mellor was in touch or Tom Saxton knocked on, in which case it would have been a London restart. Yet there wasn't a London player anywhere near, so why was it a drop-out???
-Why didn't I take a camera?
-We didn't get to see the queen.

Estimated Cas Fans 250-300.

How were the Cas Fans? Nervous, anxious, relieved. I think that was possibly the best match (in terms of atmosphere I have been to), the way we all piled to the front after the match was unbelieveable.

Comedy Moment

Take your pick from:

-Batman (non-rlfans users probably won't know who I mean) introducing himself to Jon Wells after the match as he was leaving the changing rooms.

Batman: ''Jon Wells, can I introduce myself. I started 'Jon Wells Barmy Army in 1999.''
Jon Wells: ''Oh, god''

Jon Wells then had to be rescued by Darren Rogers.

OR

-My mates chat up line on the tube:

''So, which part of America are you from?''
''Erm, I'm Irish.''

In a nutshell
What a weekend! Few expected us to win, but at last we are off the mark. We need to push on from this and beat Hull.

P.S. I would like to apologise to Luke Robinson's parents, Ellery Hanley, Jon Wells and a few others for my friends behaviour (no names). At one point it looked like he was going to join the team on the coach, and he wouldn't let Hanley go after the match (my friend almost sat in Hanley's car with him). :D

Please note these are my views and not those of the supporters club

Thanks for the report, always very fair and interesting.

What do you think of Andy Kain ? I saw him play for England17s last year and he looks a star in the making.

He started on the bench on Friday night, put in a few good kicks but nothing special. Attempted a drop goal as well, but missed.

He had a great game against Salford the previous week though, scoring his first senior try and putting in some good tackles as well.

He needs to bulk up a bit, but apart from that if he keeps his feet on the ground he has a promising future ahead of him. 8)
