Im seeing Sheens' stategy this year as the season as a whole is one long series of trial games
~ 12 home games= try to bank on winning 75% of those...theres 16-20 comp points.
~ Win against the bottom half of the comp in the away games....4,5,6 or so wins = 8 - 12 comp points
~ 2 byes - 4 comp points
At worst theres 28 comp points.
new finals structiure comes in and im ignorant to that I admit...
...but with the injurys weve had, I see the defense is working pretty well.....the attack is ordinary but with a strategy something like that above he can experiment with the halves with some time up his sleeve.
At their best we and Sheens will know we can beat any team.....this right now is practise and tinkering with a view to getting it right for the thir 3rd of the season and peaking, coming home strong.
Will 28 be enough though?
Luckily, and I use this term very loosely, the injuries have been in the back row which is a position we have plenty of depth in. Yes, we miss Ellis big time, but we are getting by in the forwards for a change. What worries me is that it's the backs that are being messed with.
I really thought that Humble in the halves was working well and he was providing good ball out to Marshall. What didn't help was when Farah, whether told to or not, was jumping in to first receiver.
I felt sorry for Lawrence last night, he looked out of his depth. Here is a hard, straight running centre forced to pass at the line and use his limited kicking game to create something.
I'm no expert, but if you don't let your opening bat open the bowling you sure as hell don't let your try scoring, Australian rep centre play a ball playing role.
