Lord Derby Cup Final

The Load Derby Cup, the French KO competition open to all French clubs, was played in torrential rain at Carcassonne this evening - after what was apparently a cracking match the final score was

Limoux 17 - 14 Albi

I watched it and frankly thought it was rubbish, much worse than the league final a couple of weeks ago.

The rain ruined it, with so much dropped ball. Neither side could hang onto it at all and there was no good rugby played, except in very isolated patches. The tries were very basic too and the only excitement came in the last five minutes when Albi scored to set up a tense final, before Anselme dropped it iclose to Limoux's line n the last minute to end the match.

No stellar French displays either, much like the championship final.
