Yeah, signing the best CAM in the world is definitely a panic signing...

Great signing of a great player to show our intent in the future.

The point Im making though is Wenger HAD to sign someone before the window and Id wager if we could have spent 40+ million pounds weeks ago Ozil wouldnt have been the priority.

But we couldn't have signed him weeks ago because Bale wasn't at Madrid yet

If you want a player you still put in an offer,at least that's what the big teams do.

Anyway my point was from memory wide players and forwards were our targets a month and more ago.

You're right. We definitely need another striker and winger.

We targetted Draxler and Di Maria but neither ended up moving. The only wide player that did move in the window that would have been obtainable and that i would have been happy with was Lamela. Really surprised we didn't look into him.

The only decent strikers that moved were Falcao, Cavani and Higuain. Two of them were way too expensive and the other was overpriced and not world class. If the reason for us not getting Higuain was because we're waiting for a world class striker than i'm sweet with that. No point throwing 34 mill at a player like Higuain if Rooney/Benzema/Suarez are available in Jan or next July.

Sure but by then we're 10-20 points behind the league leaders. But your right in Wenger has too follow through with more big name signings otherwise Ozil won't flourish

We played pretty well. Ozil was great - set up one with a beautiful first touch and should have had more. Walcott failed to convert plenty and was quite poor in that respect, although he was getting some good runs in which is encouraging I suppose. Kos was rash and cost us a goal - I hope that doesn't become a weakness for us. We fell asleep for about 20 minutes in the second half which was disappointing. Ramsey was amazing and easily MoTM. Great goals, great vision and is a completely different player to last season.

Edit: Giroud hurt himself in the last 5-10 minutes. Horrific thoughts of Bendtner up front...

Di Cannio will be fuming at the not playing on/denied goal call..

And rightly so... Sunderland were all over your lot for large portions of that second half.. That call probs changed the outcome of the game..

In saying that though, it should have been all over by half time..

Yeah I would've been furious if that call had gone against that.

We were due some luck after the Villa game though I guess.

On top of the league. You can sense the confidence in the team that Ozil has added.

Ramsey has been outstanding so far this season. This could be the making of him as a star.

We buy a top finisher in January (Giroud has been good but we need another one) and we can seriously challenge for the title.

Mesut Özil: Completed more passes in the final third of the pitch vs Sunderland yesterday (34) than any player has in a PL game this season

AVB, tell me more about how paying 20-30 million for slightly above average players is more value than paying 40 for genuine world class.

Good lord you are geniused. We payed $26 million for one of Spain's best strikers, and $26 million for one of the brightest talents in world football. We also payed $10 million for an attacking midfielder who had similar stats to Ozil in his debut game as well. Oh, and both of those latter two signings are 21.

Grow some brains you deluded twat.

Yes, Ozil is almost definitely the best individual signing made by any English club, perhaps even European club, this window. But as far as an overall transfer window goes, Spurs easily had the better one as they actually strengthened the squad immensely across the park.

Very true. You have to applaud how AVB went about things in the transfer window. AVB did well in bringing in young players such as Lamela, Erikson, Chadli and Sigurosson. If these players stick around with the club then it will be a very good investment for the club.

I still think if Tottenham want play and compete in UCL then they need a world class player. Someone like Fabregas maybe.

Avb has very little to do with transfers and Siggy has been at spurs for a few years now

Another away game, another win. 10 in a row we've won away from home now.

Didn't play that great but 3 points away in the CL is a good result. Win our home games now and we'll be through.

Good to see Theo finally off the mark too.
