Edwards 7 - Rock solid and plenty of meters as usual.
Crichton 6 - Some good carries and defensive reads.
Whare 3 - Atrocious game. Poor defensive work led directly to two tries. His gentle crabbing across field can f**k right off too.
Naden 5 - Didn't get involved much. Didn't embarrass himself in defense at least.
To'o 6 - Went ok. Good meters out of our end and some dynamic running. No big plays though.
Maloney 5 - A couple of good moments but mostly invisible and the customary stupid penalty.
Cleary 4 - An absolute plodder with the footy. Jimmy's stupid penalties seem to be catching too.
Tamou 5 - Plenty of work but a couple of pathetic defensive reads, particularly for their first.
Katoa 5 - Not fit enough for NRL football.
Leota 6 - Good energy to start the game. A couple of strong carries.
Kikau 7 - Much better from the big guy. Nice work for his try and a couple of scary runs. Looks like the rest last week did him good.
Martin 5 - Invisible mostly. One good run. Needs more ball.
JFH 7 - See what happens when you don't sub him off Ivan?

Leinu 5 - Pulling off one big run every game. Looks good but not getting enough time or ball.
Burns 5 - Nice tackle to stop Butcher scoring but bamboozled by an admittedly excellent pass for the Mitchell try. Would like to see more.
RCG 5 - Got through more work but most of it was plodding. As someone said in the game thread he looks out of condition. Typifies Penrith atm.
Egan 5 - Went ok. One great run. Why doesn't he do that more?

A couple of points:

• A much better game from Naden. His defence was improved and he was a handful when he had the ball. If he can keep that defensive intensity, he might just make it as a first grader.
• Our young guys Martin, Leniu and Burns went missing in attack. Not enough work rate bringing the ball up. They are all rookies so they get a pass, but 6 runs for Martin and 2 runs each for Leniu and Burns is not enough.
• Cleary received 30% more ball than Maloney. He created nothing. His passing was terrible, his kicking at the line terrible, his running game was non-existent. Our team continually give him field position and a faster average play the ball than the opposition and his response is to turn it inside. It's not just try assists he lacks, its also line break assists. He is an awful halfback.
• JFH and Kikau had great games, JFH topped metres and tackles. Legend.

Sure it's a small sample size and I am open to being wrong and will happily concede the point next year if I am. halves clash all the time. Not so long ago Brooks and Moses were getting the criticism and they aren't the first nor will they be the last. I don't know what causes it exactly but it's a very real part of the game.

In true Antony Green style, I'm prepared to declare James Fisher Harris the Panthers Forum Player of the Year, his lead is insurmountable even were he to miss the final round. Congratulations to him. The minors are interesting, Edwards making a late run in particular.

I'll be astounded if JFH doesn't take out the Merv Cartwright Medal.
