I can see both sides of the coi here. I agree with both yourself and Kilkenny. I suppose it is what it is.

As a club I suppose it gives us opportunity for new kids to come through and show their wares. Look at Tito for example, who knew what an amazing personalty he was going to be.

Same with Jarome, I will mourn his loss when he leaves end of 24. I will be proud of him and his achievement. Hope and pray he doesn't get badly burnt by the W/T like many have been before......

Penrith Panthers are a development club, when players get too expensive (except say for our halfback) they are moved on, and new kids come and join the crew.

It's part of our DNA.
We keep enough expensive players Alice; we just prioritised the likes of Edwards, Yeo, Leota, Martin, To’o (all signed to extensions this year) over Luai. That isn’t having a go at Jarome, it’s just a simple fact that we can’t keep them all.

Exactly. That is at the base of it all.

I think the club has gotten their priorities right.

Edwards a must keep. His yardage game, setting the defence invaluable.

Leota, Fish Set the platform, they are the bash brothers.

To'o The leader of the backline, getting the team on the front foot. A must keep.

Martin hard running, ball playing skill a point of difference in the backline.

Yeo....The glue that holds the team together and gives Cleary and the Luai space. Had to be kept at any price.

Luai sadly was always on the way out with a club came brandishing 30 pieces of silver (I am joking)

Will Luai flourish outside the Penrith system, organising, doing 90% of the kicking, setting up plays......Like Ivan says the Jury is out on this......I do believe his natural running game will suffer when he is piled on with this. Burton a good example.

in 18-36 months time, will Luai regret his decision ?

The second Ivan made those stupid comments he was gone.

He was gone before then. The money, the moolah, The cash......Apparently the dogs have been in his ears for months, W/T too.

Ivan's words (I believe) made little difference.

As soon as it was revealed that Jarome was changing management companies. Penrith attempted to re sign him (with a management company being involved). Jarome wasn't interested.

His feet were heading towards the door, (because of what happened....see first paragraph). Jarome's head has been turned.......(and I don't blame him)

Because the club simply doesn't have the extra cash on offer.

If he did he would look like a bit of a Cuck. I don't think he gives a f**k what anyone else thinks about most things, but that would grate him I reckon. In saying that I have no doubt he and Ivan are fine, but publicly he has been backed into a corner.

For me the telling part was when Jarome was given the opportunity to re-sign without his old management taking their fee. He chose not. His mind was thinking towards leaving already.

Add in the 'Black Money' management company being in his ear, they want what they consider a fair share of the pie.......

The comments don't enter into the thinking. I'm sure this has been said to Jarome by Ivan on a number of occassions.

When Ivan made these comments, I believe he knew it was odds against him staying with the huge money being offered were slim.

The only reason he is leaving is cash. It’s as simple as that.

All the other media shit is meaningless.

Its a business decision being made by both parties.
Your coach openly saying he doesn't think you can run a side is never going to sit well. Anyways this is a good move for the club in the longer term

The Roosters who won in 2018 & 2019 still have on their roster approximately nine players or so who were part of the 2019 winning team. The big loss from that team was Latrell I guess. Most of the others who subsequently left retired such as Cronk, Morris, Aubusson, Cordner. Other than Latrell they really didn’t suffer salary cap pain they allowed the likes of Verills, Tetevano, Lui to leave but they were hardly marquee big money players. And as we have seen despite having a roster stacked with players on big money, they are still able to bring in the likes of Joseph Suuali, Brandon Smith last season and Lenui, Dominic Young for 2024 and beyond. There are plenty of others.

If you make a reasonable comparison of the players they have genuinely lost, recruited by other NRL clubs to the Panthers, there really is no comparison.

I agree Alice. When he had the opportunity to sign without Agents fees and didn’t, it was clear he had opened the door and was on his way out. That was the moment I also believed he was gone.

Just wish they would make it official and put us out of our misery so we can all move on.

As much as I love what Jarome does for our club and I will be sorry to see him go, I have no doubt someone will step up and fill the role admirably and our next superstar will be found.

Jarome has proven he is no Nathan when it comes to team organisation. His flair and skill is apparent when working off Nathan. I personally don't think Jarome will cope with a losing culture after so much success and will ultimately regret his decision.

You have mirrored what I think completely.

I believe (wholeheartly) he's making a grave mistake. He's head's been turned by Black Money.....and the huge amounts of cash.

I believe that Jarome at W/T will be a Brooks Mark11, and it won't be pretty.
