The club has tried many paths to get a deal done. With his old management. The possibility of deal without a manager, and with his new management.
The club even went against their earlier stance and increased their original figure.
The club have done as much as they can.

Its either success or money. He can't have both here. He appears to have made his choice.
The rest is just BS optics.

I listened to Bloke in a bar today. His latest offering. Kemp alluded to the fact he believes the club 'lowballed' Jarome with an offer of only about 500-600K. Not the 850K that has been reported.

He went on to say that W/T was probably just under 1million.

Bascially putting the blame back on the club, saying he's been denied a fair wage.

It got me thinking is this something perhaps Jarome's management is putting about.

I found this all quite fascinating. Kemp addmitted at the beginning that he was kind of speculating..........

Interesting.

No bearing? I don't think so, otherwise Luai wouldn't have put up the infamous 'Know your worth' Insta post.

That sort of stuff is red rag to a bull for someone with a personality like Luai. I would know - I was a lot like him when I was young (minus the footy talent).
The comments were nothing, we’re talking about professionals here, not kids. Ivan and Jerome have a great relationship and I’m sure that will continue if and when he is gone to the WT. There was method to Ivan and our club bringing in O’Sullivan & Cogger on short term deals. If Jerome feels blighted in any way by the comments made by Ivan then perhaps it is for the best he moves on. I think it was water of a ducks back and Jerome’s social media response just part of the usual social media banter.

100%.

Jerome has done incredibly well here.

If the figures are to be believed 4.4 over four years..

Go figure that one out against your salary cap.

Good luck to him, I thought $850k was a touch too high. Silly me.

I don't believe that. Kemp sounds like he has an axe to grind.

Luai reportedly re-signed with us in 2021. A three-year deal worth $2.1 million. $700k a year.
Even if that is slightly off back then. I doubt the club low balls a player Ivan publicly stated he wanted to keep mid-year. Not with finals coming up.

Tigers are offering well over a million. They have to offer overs to entice. Not the crazy figure Fletcher is throwing about though.

I tend to agree about Kemp. Thought it strange.

I really don’t think it is particularly relevant to us how our former players go with there new clubs.

By all means we all wish them well I guess, but once they make there decision who really cares.

Do I lose any sleep over Matt Burton failing his audition in the halves for the DOGS, Capewell being released early, Kikau struggling, the list is endless, but the common denominator was it was there decision to leave. Crichton, Lenui and now Luai time will tell but they have all left in most instances for a better payday. No need to feel sorry for any of our high profile departures. At the end of the day it was there choice.

If Jerome’s career heads south after he leaves us, it was his devision, he will be well compensated. We will move on, hopefully we will unearth another youngster to take his place and do an equal or better job.

I have wished all our high profile departures well (and numerous young guns) but I certainly will never feel sorry for them if things don't pan out for them on the football field.

I certainly won’t lose any sleep if Jerome gets four wooden spoons to sit alongside his three premiership rings.

Regardless, don’t you think the same principles applies.

I have made my thoughts clear that I think you always stay at successful clubs if given the chance. As it opens up more post footy opportunities

I think To'o will be the better off of the 2 in 20 years, But on to the question.

Edwards summed it up perfectly.

"He said he wants his kids to go to school and grow up in Penrith.

So him staying allows him and his wife to plan for the future with stability"

That would be my advice to any that situation.

Work backwards because if the player is studying through the club or perhaps are working with someone a couple of hours a week.

In this situation is the drive to say Ashfield from Penrith daily going to annoy for 10 years post footy???

That sort of stuff.

A player might have their post career set and want a change of scenary or just the short term money hit.

Really is no one shoe fits all, But is something players in all sports suffer with post career.

There is no way Luai wouldn't of put something on his social media if the reports were BS

As for the Fletcher figure, Luai's manager said they are asking for $1.2m a year. So not far off that figure

For the record. Black Money are the No Limits Boxing promoters, They are close to most in the game. I believe George Rose has even been on Bloke in a Bar before... So that is possible

What happened to your narrative about players signing for less because of the bond amongst the Polynesian players.

You seem to have rather conveniently backtracked and moved on from that given events over this last 12-18 months.

Please enlighten me, what are these post football opportunities you have been promoting time and time again.

Do you suggest Jerome will get a gig with Fox or Nine once his playing days are over?

Fox and Nine is not where the money is.

He’ll either sign with a Podcast agency or start his own. Any of the big ones will have him in a second.

Jerome won’t have any worries.

It isn't even that, plenty of cash in the corporate sector

Different stages in their careers.

I think Turuva, Tago etc will re-sign again. Will they stay their whole career? Depends if they want the big pay day.

Easy comparison is look at the successful Manly teams of the early 2000's

You don't see guys like Stewart, Menzies etc in the media but they get corporate gigs etc.

Anthony Minichello is another, Successful player not in the media but does well off the field in the corporate world.

That is where I see the likes of Edwards, Yeo going. Luai not sure due to being hated but that is why I said staying in a good side helps.

3 x GF winner + 3 x wooden spoon winner takes away the profile.

Particularly if a company is after someone to target the islander community. Then To'o has the better resume post career.

The 'corporate world' just doesn't hand out cash willy nilly to ex athletes.

Podcasting is likely to have the floor fall out soon and leave only a few. There is only so many advertising dollars to go around.

Kemp is leveraging his shows popularity into his beer brand. The goal undoubtedly is to sell the beer to one of the majors like Feral, Pirate Life, Stone & Wood and Balter did. Unfortunately for Kemp the era of free money is over and M&A activity is collapsing. The beer market is especially tough as overall consumption has trended downwards for years while market entrants has exploded.

Beer consumption is certainly not trending downwards in this house! And not likely too either! Hahahaha
