What are you talking about??? Jerome is leaving, obviously I’d prefer he didn’t, but he is.

So we need to move on, internally, Laurie and Cole are the most obvious replacements.

Externally, I’m yet to see any viable options as a replacement.

Do try and keep up.
Isn’t that what I said from the very beginning.

What’s the risk moving forward with Jerome?
Age - No
Injury - Same as anyone
Ability - No, he’s only going to get better
Money - No, 850 is fine for a rep player with 3 NRL titles.
We lose Jnrs - So what

We don’t need to retain players if we keep the best.

Trusting that we can replace him when he leaves, doesn’t mean that you don’t do your best to keeping him now.
I will draw your attention to your ‘we lose juniors - so what‘ comment.

That is beyond dumb mate.

The whole foundation of our success has been built upon bringing thru juniors talent.

No shit.
And through out this time of success, how many Jnrs have we lost??

It’s beyond dumb to think that we won’t continue to lose every talented No.7 until Nathan is done or leaves. So by your train of thought, we should move Nathan on.

Or I guess we move Bizza and Dylan on, because they are both blocking talented Jnrs.

For every Jnr we lose, there is one or two coming up behind them. Thats why I say that I don’t care, because there is no reason to worry.

Good try mate. Not gonna work, but good try anyway.

The debate was about Jerome, but by all means introduce Nathan and Dylan to shore up your argument.

Just be consistent.

Good luck to Jarome.

As far as recruiting, I fully expect the club to have an offer in front of Katoa on 1 November 2024 for 2026. We'll have to win our 5th in a row with 1 of Schneider, Laurie or Cole.

Or the next young gun whom has yet to emerge.

It’s the same argument, Jerome is also blocking Jnrs… because he’s better than any we have.

It’s not a debate, you’re just straight up wrong. The only way your argument could be right would be if we had someone in reserve grade better than Jerome… which we don’t… not even close.

I think Cole is too young and Laurie just not good enough. Schneider is the wildcard.
As always I'm happy to be proven wrong
Cole is too young this season, but will be fine in 25.

Laurie is better than Schneider and will improve.

Schneider is a game managing 7, if he’s to play, Nathan has to go to 6

Yeah but there is 12 months.

The opposite is who on the market is better and for what price?

There is a reason Luai is getting way overs

I just posted this on our forum.

Phil Gould, just posted this on Twitter:
Just call him Tiger. I think we all know the man.

He was talking about Tiger Woods, or was he? Hahaha

Like you said 12 months is a long time. I'd be leaving most of Luai's money set aside and if no one we fancy becomes available we just front load some contracts

And lose Turuva, May or Tago in the meantime?

IF Luai goes then we need his money spent before it gets to that stage

If luai can get back to the form he was in
Cole is too young this season, but will be fine in 25.

Laurie is better than Schneider and will improve.

Schneider is a game managing 7, if he’s to play, Nathan has to go to 6

Jack cogger and SOS were both game managing 7s... they worked really well with nath.

In fact id argue at time this year our attack looked better with nath and cogger than with luai.

Cogger knew when to play direct and it created much more time and space for nath.. cleary still played 7 with cogger too.. just chimed in both sides and got more involved. But he still 110% lead the team around..

Schnieder is a left side player with a good left boot.

Hes an out an out half be it a 6 or 7.

Laurie is really a fb which is undoubtedly hes best and prefered spot.. he got forced to 6 due to the emergence of bula. His defence needs serious work to be in our team as a 6.. amd his long kicking is very avg.

Jack cole is a bit of an everywhere man.. centre, utility, 5/8.. his defence last year really was pretty avg in cup.. again he has a long way to go.

Given what cleary has done with SOS and Cogger, i think schnieder is in for a big year.

I actually think schnieder and cleary will work well together. Daine will get his chance. Up to him how much he wants to put his body on the line in defence.

Whoever goes to 6 to replace luai has the difficult job of replacing probs the best defensive 6 in the comp

We don't need all 3. Better off with some cheaper backs

True. One of them will likely go id say.

With casey/jesse coming through id say they will squeeze there way in

1. Dyl
2. Turuva
3. Tago
4. Casey/jesse mclean
5. Too

Tiny could be the unlucky man. Time will tell.. could be tago if he doesnt resolve the body issues and refuses certain medical treatments etc

Will be sad to see luai go.

Cant blame him. An extra 1 million or whatever it will be over a few years is to much to knock back. Has to do whats right for his family.

But i cant see us being in the market for anyone.

We will stick with whats worked. Young kids coming in..

The only thing id really like if we are to go to market is to try get a gun 17/18 year old back rower in the kikau mould from somewhere..

And a young gun hooker. Im not convinced any of the hooking stocks are up to it... and im not sold on mav geyer and a few of the other 2md row prospects we have.

A bit of gun junior depth in those areas would be ideal.

Agree with majority of what you said though just pointing out O'Sullivan played only one game in the halves with Nathan. We didn't see much from them as Cleary got sent off (It was against Parra).

But Cogger/Cleary worked out pretty well. Schneider is the back up 7 first and foremost but the race for the 6 in 2025 is wide open.

Also, I doubt Luai plays in the WCC. So I'm keen to see who they pick as the 6.
